Dimebag wasn't that great but he was decent. I'm not really a fan of their style!

I loved the fast stuff, but their groove laden mid paced stuff was never my thing

I was listening through Cowboys From Hell today...and I realised something.
There are times on that album when Phil Anselmo sounds like Bruce Dickinson and James Hetfield. On Cowboys he sounds like Hetfield when he sings "Cowboys from heh-oo-uuuurrlllll" And he sounds a bit like Bruce on Cemetary Gates chorus.

Just because you're not a fan of their style doesn't mean he was a bad guitarist. Anyway, Pantera was ****ing awesome. Primal Concrete Sledge ![]()

Great stuff. Dimebag was great, but overrated, blah, blah, blah. Favorite album is Cowboys from Hell, with VDoP coming in at a close second.

I heard at their last concert the singer had a beer in his hand and was a little more pissed than usual and abused the crowd...
R.I.P. DIMEBAG I'm horrified that there are only two pages... ![]()

im just woundering why there hasnt been a pantera thread already.. i think they should be able to have their on thread, not only in the thrash thread. but yeah, one of my favorite bands, and one of the better bands too.. amazing skill in all of them.

The art of shredding was my favorite song. Pantera is one of my favorite bands, but I really didn't like Damageplan.

I absolutely love Pantera, and I have way to many favourite songs. I'm extremely anxious about the "Rebel Meets Rebel" stuff that's coming out.
Anyone know what Rex is doing these days anyhow?

Look, plain and simple. Pantera were tremendous, they realeased some killer albums. They had there glory days. Dime was a great and original guitarist, but for a lot of wankers, it's time to move on. Seriously, how about I use a pantera song as an example for you? 'Yesterday don't mean Shit.' We don't want the next wave of 13 year olds wearing Dime shirts and proclaiming that it was actually his girlfriend who shot him, I meaaaaan.......NEEH! Give it a goddamned rest.
This thread is open for plain old Pantera Discussion, but if I come back in a days time and it's full of 'omg dime so gret, r.i.p i mis him! hey iz it true hiz name is abut a bag of pot? lol? dimebag? haharofl.' Seriously, watch out.

Always loved Pantera since I first heard them. Cowboys from Hell is their best, not one skippable song on there. Only Pantera song I really hate though is Good Friends and a Bottle of Pills.

Pantera helped drag me put of my "mall metal" phase. They are my favorite band right now. Cemetary Gates - cliche I know - is one of my favorites, but I like Floods a lot more. That lead part at the end is amazing... its not real technical, but I love it.
Never a big Damageplan fan, although a couple of songs were okay. And I also am looking forward to Rebel Meets Rebel (thank you... freakguitarist).

I loved the end of Floods, especially how it's "blended" with the sound of rain. And your welcome ![]()

^ Floods is ****ing beautiful.
I'm obsessed with Pantera. Trendkill is my favourite album, but I liked them all. I haven't heard anything they released before they signed to ATCO. |

I was once a pretty big Pantera fan, but around the time of his death I was strangely getting distant from them. Once he had passed I didn't seem to get into them again...I just kept slowly backing away....until I stopped listening to them almost completely, accept for when I would go through all my cd's.
However, I just listened to some Pantera the other day and even though I don't overly like the band still, I still think they're pretty talented and the Hollow is a sweet song.
