Either Bigger Boys and Stolen Sweethearts, or Despair in the Departure Lounge.

I like Bigger Boys and Stolen Sweethearts, Cigarette Smoke and On The Run From The MI5. Most of the old demos are cool.

They are highly overrated, hyped up to sweet Jesus by NME and a bunch of twats at times.

But Alex is a great lyricist.

Ok for a listen now and then.

The End.

I agree, those three songs are class. Its a shame they didn't do a better recording of On The Run from the MI5. Its crap quality. And I prefer the old version of Cigarette Smoke.

From the album, I'd say the best lyric wise is A Certain Romance but my favourite riff is the one from Red Lights Indicate Doors are Secure.

I don't see why this should be fans only? Surely anyone who has an opinin on them should be allowed to post, so long as its vaguely intelligible.

I'm going to be the first to openly say I dislike them. As a band, there's nothing majorly wrong with them, but I don't like the hype - let's be honest, it's highly unjustified - over what is really just YET another indie/garage/folk/rock band. Do we need one more? The lyrics aren't as fantastic as everyone says they are. I read some article in a tabloid where they were like "Arctic Monkeys lyrics are better than Morrissey, he could never have come up with a gem like__________" (the so-called 'gem' was actually pretty cringeworthy and not really that clever/witty/intelligent/worthwhile). But if you like them I guess you like them and that's your opinin. It just seems like too many people love them because the NME says so.

And I certianly don't agree that a) they're so high on the Reading/Leeds bill (after one majorly overrated album - this is worse than the time The Darkness headlined above The Offspring), and b) they moaned because they wanted to be headlining. How arrogant.

I think they are. He's a great lyricist.

What a crowd of twats. They have had what, one over hyped album? And they want to headlining instead of Muse, who will be playing stuff from their fourth album?

Exactly.
Wow, it's like what I've always wanted to say but couldn't get out right.

I really hate the album.
But the new EP is a cracker. If they keep putting stuff like that out, I'll probably like 'em more.

Has anyone seen live footage from their tour of America? The band look so bored cause none of the crowd are into them, and they must have played those same approx 12 songs for like 3 years non stop. Its funny.

i quite like them, got some good songs. Wouldn't own of their stuff but if i heard one of theirs songs i wouldnt just turn it off.

on the subject of their arragance, it's at least a damn sight better than all these boring bands out there such as the editors or keane or even god forbid james blunt. I'm not saying i agree with them, it's just interesting that's all

The album is really good, especially for a debut. Though I was looking for that new EP, and I couldn't find it.

Dancing Shoes has a really nice beat, btu I really like When The Sun Goes Down because it was the first song by them that I learned how to play by them.

Good album overall.

The Arctic Monkeys make me want to grate my ears off.

There is nothing special about them. They're arrogant and overrated.
