What's Your?

Someone mentioned practising in the random shred chat a while back, so I got to wondering do you guys have a set regime and what it is?
and if not how do you practice?

i ususally do the chromatic scale starting on a, then starting on the 12 fret, then all of the degrees of the major mode in a, then all of em starting on the 12 fret, then i practice alt picking arpeggios, sweeping the arpeggios, and then random licks from songs, such as: the theme for glasgow kiss, the first "fast" alt picking lick in no boundaries, and etc

Usually start off with different chromatic stuff including permutations and using the entire neck. Then I fool around in the modes with different sequences and stuff. The I play whatever I've been practicing recently, be it songs or little licks. Then once I'm really warm i try playing short sequences as fast as I can. Then I look at songs I've been interested in learning parts from and whatnot. Then to finish I do the original chromatic excercises but as fast as I can.

I rarely practice. I just screw around for hours on end cause I'm pretty happy where i'm at. if i notice something needs work, like a certain scale or sweep pattern i'll work on it for like 5 minutes, then keep on jamming.

I used to try and practice everything but i now focus on one thing at a time.

Now, i generally mix all HOs legato with strict alternate. I also practice the monstrous scales for my diploma next year, which basically cover every permutation of 3 octaves. Thats my linear technique work. I also try to assimilate new kinds of articulation, and make sure i work on accents and dynamics for everything.

Though, like everyone, i do occasionally just sit and play scales all day with stict alternate.

ive abandoned my varied--legato, sweep, alternate, chord, scale--practise regime and have gone right back to basics with an acoustic--with 12s on--a metronome and twelve alternate picking exercises--6 triplets and 6 sixteenths, one minute on each, then increase metronome by 2bpm, etc etc---the whole thing takes just over two hours and i did it three times the other day--because my alternate picking sucks- i feel like ive rooted out any tension in my picking arm but im still not seing the results i want--seriously thinking about getting some lessons, although theres not a great selection of teachers at uni or at home---i just need someone to tell me if im doing something wrong!!!

I don't time my practices I just go up and down scales I've created to exercise my fingers and strengthen weaker parts of my technique.
