I'd estimate that's ~18-20 nps, but he's already on the front page for that speed, so probably doesn't matter.

No. Sorry. We don't care. His playing is terribly sloppy anyways, he's not playing as fast as he says at the top end of the metronome.
I think that particular video might possibly be doctored somehow, too, this one from the audience sounds waaaaaay different

I actually just clocked it, pretty much out of boredom, as long as my ear, metronome and maths are right... it's 15.8nps. Somewhere in that ball park at least which is definitely not going on the list when he's up there for 20nps anyway

Oh man, it's just so out of time I don't know why GWR seems to have taken him seriously...

That does rely on me being right though, it's so short and fast it's really hard to tell.

Ah, well here's how I did it. Looked like groups of 4 (all 4 fingers were being used) at 260-270 bpm. So, mathematically that's like 17 or 18 nps. It sounded faster so I just said 18-20. But yeah, who knows. Maybe I have shitty ears or just don't listen closely but anything 15 nps or faster just sounds like warbly weedles to me if it's alt picked or legato or over short distances.

If the tab is correct (I know the tempo is) IA Eklundh reaches 16nps in the song Heroin Breakfast:

2:30-ish.

I'm new here, how do you measure the speed of someone? Also don't know if he's clocked because I didn't want to read all 166 pages of this thread, but has anyone figured the speed for Rob Stokes tune Shuffle Off To Buffalo, my guitar teacher figures he's tremelo sweeping around 1:40 in.

1 - Formula is NPS = Notes per beat * beats per minute / 60.

2 - No one knows what tremolo sweeping is, the two terms are fundamentally at odds with one another.

3 - The more I see you the more convinced I am you're just advertising this person since no one knows who he is either.

Trem sweeping? Haha, gotta try that. Maybe it's like... trem pick a bunch of notes on a string, then eco pick from that flurry to the next string and repeat.

I think he means tremolo picking each of the notes of an arpeggio ultra-fast in the manner that it was sound like sweeps.

even though it looks fast, there's no way to tell what part is supposed to be at 46 nps, it sounds like garbage. I have no idea what scales he's even playing. It sounds less musical than chromatic lol. slowed down it sounds the same. it's just completely indecipherable. jimmy page's playing is clean as shit in comparison... wait... anyway, It's still possible he really is playing that fast somewhere in all that mess, and he probably could have played a little bit faster. I think the best candidate for alternate picking would be john taylor at 40nps. I listened to it at quarter speed, and while it doesn't sound pretty, he is clearly hitting the notes in tempo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVHV...feature=related derp

Hell, I'd like to see somebody attempt one of these with a completely dry clean tone for once.

While that would be nice I really would settle for something that didn't sound like complete arse. That would be really nice
