Mastodon
Ok, there was a thread (maybe two) here on Mastodon. I searched and it was gone. For one, Mastodon IS Metal. Progressive Sludge to be correct. I'm not sure if members thinking they are Hardcore is the reason it was close, but anyways, I like them. I have Leviathan and I find it original in someways, plus refrashing IMO.

Dude, rename this, you can't have a "Mastodon Thread", just call it Mastodon, or else everyone will all be like "OMG NO BAND ONLY THREADS" and all that
And Mastodon owns, I have all their stuff, absolutely love them. "Seabeast", "Iron Tusk" and "March of the Fire Ants" is where its at. |

I like them as well, but I haven't heard too much from "Call Of The Mastodon."
My favourite songs are "Blood And Thunder" and "March Of The Fire Ants."

I like mastodon a lot. I haven't picked up call of the mastodon, but i got the workhorse chronicles dvd and its pretty good, every song they wrote they have a live performance clip of.

I like Mastodon... I'd say they have some thrash influence as well.. But with Prog Sludge... You nailed it... At least in my opinion. Hahaha. Their newest album (with all the older stuff) was great.

Eh never really caught my attention. Solid but they just don't have that extra little thing to catch my interest. For fans of them though check out High On Fire (pretty similar sound IMO)

I say either under-rated or not listened to enough. My faves are Iron Tusk, March Of Fire Ants and Elephant Man, save the minute or so of silence.

They're really great songwriters, which is something that a lot of DM/BM bands lack. They can do a lot with a little.
