I like them alot. I own they're albums but I've yet to get the DVD.
Hearts Alive, MOTFA and Iron Tusk are great. Seabeast is pretty tight too.

Seen them twice, three times when June 16 comes . I agree that they are really solid songwriters. A great band for kids to listen to when going from mainstream, accessable metal to the underground, heavier stuff IMO.

I love Mastodon, but I can't find Remission anywhere.
Are they worth seeing live? |

Yes. Though their gigs seem to have ever-increasing numbers of 'hardcore' kids. So watch those flailing arms in the pit. And the always start with Hearts Alive... |

These guys are fucking good, and I love sludge metal. I have Leviathan but only a few songs off of Remission. I haven't heard Call of the Mastodon, though. I looked it up on metal-archives and it says it's just a re-release of the 1st demo with Troy and Brent on vocals instead of original vocalist Eric Saner.

No man, its a re-release of the Lifesblood EP, plus a bunch of old songs. They're pretty rough around the edges, and pretty short (though whole thing is about a half hour) but its good, I can upload it on HP if you want. |

i've seen them live. they opened for slayer and i went apes'hit, more because of the atmosphere than actually digging the music. plus it was just so loud, it is hard not to get into it.
over-rated, but by no means terrible. not my thang
