REVIVE THIS THREAD. I just got into them a couple months ago, but I love their stuff. I definitely prefer Tarja's vocals, but I can also appreciate that Anette is better at the stuff they're doing now. My only real gripe with the band is that I wish they had more complex guitar riffing as opposed to the same power chord 8th notes for so long on so many songs. Emppus seems to have gotten better about stuff like that thought, thank the guitar gods. Here in just a while I'm going to try to assemble a band similar to Nightwish, but with two guitarists and more complex guitar arrangements. Agh can't wait to see how that might turn out for me!

Perfect example of a band that wouldn't even be remotely interesting if it wasn't for the keyboardist. Still can't believe I used to worship these guys...

I saw Nightwish live a few years ago which was my first concert with PAIN and it was just awesome. I have never seen a band with such an perfect playing so far but the atmosphere and the feeling was below average. I wouldn't pay for them again. But still Nightwish was an amazing band for me. If you have a look on the older stuff up to Once there a lots of songs that are masterpieces( e.g. Planet hell; Romanticide; Beauty and the Beast; The Kinslayer) and Marco Hietala is a very good singer but i just don't like the newer stuff. The Imaginaerum-project is one of the worst things i have ever heard. It just hurts my ears to hear in what they turned. There is nothing left of the "metal-power" they once had for me.

Nightwish were one of the greatest metal bands of all time before the Anette-era.

Bite me.

Surprising how the band is able to blend opera and metal in their songs.

You do realise that Opera began during the classical period of classical music*?

*classical music as an umbrella term

It makes it hard for other people to understand the conversation if you're editing important points out of your posts, though. If you make a mistake you can just make a post saying you didn't realize it or forgot or something.
