this has tunred into the ben pwning thread.
![]() and there is a difference in the gain. n00blet. even when i crank my XXX the gain still needed to be there. the amp's tone is based more in the pre-amp anyway. just like the 5150.

How does the 6505 handle classic/hard rock?

Yeah, i get tons of distortion when im not playing. Quote:
I know it still has to be there, but when its saturated (for me its around 2((i think it should be 2, as there are no numbers))) a hole boat load of gain on top of it will not change the sound. Last edited by TheFluffy : 06-17-2006 at 09:52 PM. |

Is Van Halen classic rock? Is the 5150 Van Halens signature amp? Its not too hard to figure out. |

well are the cleans worth the lack of gain over the 6505?? (in the 6505+) like are they good enough to sacrifice the gain. (i use gain at 10) ALWAYS!!!!!!!!! i play Melodic Death, Grindcore, Power metal...so yeha i use cleans ALOT less than distortion..and lots of it so which would be the better value..the extra 60 or so bucks for the + or a pedal for the cleans>?

Well since you don't use your cleans alot and ALWAYS!!!!!!!!! have your gain at 10, I wouldn't put more money into an amp that had better cleans and less gain. Grab a chorus pedal for the cleans and call it a day.

not too bad, actually (judging by the 6505+ i tried). It's the cleans and blues tones that aren't all that great, in my opinion. ![]()

I was looking at the 6505 ... and its got a closed back right? How does one route the amp's output to the combo's speakers using an attenuator ? Or do I have to have a cab and send the output of the amp to the attenuator and attenuator to cab ?
thanks

There is no reason to dime your gain. EVER!!. Especially on a amp with this much gain. I bet it sounds terrible. Seriouly, i love gain. I keep my tone saturated, but there a point where you are just hiding behind your gain. Last edited by TheFluffy : 06-20-2006 at 02:31 AM. |
