Cryptopsy
Possibly the greatest death metal band ever. I have all their albums, except for the live one, but damn, Lacroix is one hell of a vocalist.

^ Listen to Phobophile, or anything else from None So Vile. (edit: x2 posts above)
And now it is time for my Cryptopsy whoring. I love this band, so much. I way overplayed NSV but it's still my favorite album of all time. I got Whisper Supremacy a few months ago and was disappointed...it's still good but the production is assworthy and DiSalvo can't hold a candle to Wormy. The best thing about NSV was the production- you could hear all the intricate drum work by Flo, even if the bass drum was muted, but his jazzy playing style is the best thing about him.

Yeah, I love his drumming. Anybody else in love with Once Was Not? I've heard a lot of mixed reviews, but honestly, I can't stop listening to it. It's just that good.

I've heard samples and I have Adeste Infidelis and The Pestilence... on my computer. As far as I can tell, the drum production sucks again (too loud, and the snare pisses me off), the guitars are meh-worthy (again), and the vocals are awful. I'm thinking about getting Blasphemy Made Flesh and picking up Once Was Not some other time.

I only heard one song off it, Adeste Infidelis. I liked it a lot. However, unfathomable said awhile back that the "new vocal style sounds like old men farting." Ever since then, that song took on a whole new sound to me. Curse you bo. Last edited by totenkopf : 06-16-2006 at 09:54 PM. |

Great band.
I cannot stand it when DiSalvo tried to do Lord Worm songs live... he totally butchered the vocals on them. But when he did his own stuff... damn, he sounded exactly like he did on the CD. Lacroix is underrated, he did an amazing job will all of the material. Glad to have Worm back, though. Graves of the Fathers ![]()

BMF and NSV are ungodly, and I'd have to say I like most of the stuff off of Once Was Not, but I can't stand the vocals.

I'm a big fan of None So Vile, Blasphemy Made Flesh and I'm definetly taking a liking to Once Was Not. As well, Whisper Supremacy has some decent stuff.
But I just want to know, how is Ungentle Exhumation and And Then They'll Beg?

Dead and Dripping has my favorite guitar solo in it (1:41). It just sounds fucking awesome. Also, Slit Your Guts has one of the coolest bass fills of all time (about 1:52).

^ Definitely. My favorite solos are probably Orgiastic Disembowlment (so damn fast!), Cold Hate Warm Blood, and Open Face Surgery. Their guitar work is really underrated.

Oh yea and Orgiastic Disembowelment probably has one of the most kickass intros ever. UGGGHH>!
On second thought, the intro to Lichmistress is way more kickass.

DiSalvio had more of a hardcore/metalcore style to his vocals. That's why not a lot of people liked him. I think he was a pretty good vocalist, though. |

His vocals were great for what they were, though- when he screams "EMACIATE!" it's quite good. He had a "roar" that Worm never did. His lyrics were absolutely awful, though.
