Did he do the lyrics in Whisper Sumpremacy? If so, I vehemently disagree with you. |

It wasn't that the lyrics were particularly bad, it was just that they were really vague and not about anything in particular. Emaciate had decent lyrics, but the other stuff is just mediocre. The lyrics on ...And Then You'll Beg are really pretty lousy.

I like Disalvo's lyrics, and I like his vocal style as well (though it got alot crappier on And Then You'll Beg). I also like the fact that you can make out what he's saying as opposed to Worm's utterly unintelligable garble. Despite that, I still think Lord Worm's an awesome vocalist, and probably better overall than Disalvo.
The best I've heard is obviously NSV, but I picked up Whisper Supremacy not long ago and it's a fucking sick record, probably surpassing NSV in technicality. I like what I've heard from BMF, but the production is questionable. As for guitar solos, they are undoubtedly the best I've heard in DM. They're really fast and technical, but also really melodic, and they fit the music perfectly as well. It's a shame Jon left the band, he was great. |

Whisper Supremacy is more technical than NSV but that didn't make it better... the guitars are just a lot more dissonant and nasty-sounding. That can sometimes be a good thing, but an entire album of it kinda puts me off. It's funny, because I like bands like Hate Eternal, Gorguts, and Dillinger, which all do that, but the production on Whisper Supremacy is so dense that it makes it tough to listen to.

What do you guys think about Lacroix's vocals? I think it would have been cool if they made an entire studio album with him, instead of just a live one.

One of my favorite bands. I just got Once was Not the other day, everything on that cd awsome I think the drums sound fine. The only song on the cd that isnt that great is The Pestilence That Walketh In Darkness. The guitar on OWN simply owns, just listen to the solo in Angelskingarden.
Has anybody seen their dvd. I been looking for it for a long time and cant find it. |

He was a very competent vocalist. The scream at the beginning of Open Face Surgery on NSL is auditory asskickery. He got fired because he wasn't a great english speaker and couldn't really write lyrics. I wish they had given him some more time though.

Yeah, I don't like the production on Whisper Supremacy too much either....... for some reason it makes alot of the songs sound samey and generic. I usually like a thicker, more obnoxious guitar tone, but it's taken over the top here.

^ That too.
And this is completely off-topic, but after probably a year or so of seeing you post on UG, I JUST realized your username is a Metallica lyric. Wow.

Once Was Not is possibly the best comeback by a metal band ever, I like it even more than None So Vile (which says a lot about the album). Those who said Lord Worm isn't as good as before are wrong, his vocal job on the last album was brilliant and the music was great and catchy.

A lot of people don't seem to realize that Once Was Not is a concept album, which is why it has its slow and moody parts. And I agree, it probably is the best comeback album for a metal band ever.

I love Lord Worm's old vocal style but his vocals on Once Was Not are by no means bad.
Doesn't matter anyways... now he sounds the same live as he did on None So Vile.

I like the music on Whisper Surpremacy the best. Emaciate is ****ing fun to play.
But I dunno... I don't listen to these guys as much as I used to. Gorguts seems to have had more staying power... wierd.

I don't really like Worm's vocals on OWN, NSV was a lot better.
And lyric wise, I think Worm is a lot better then DiSalvio. Probably cuz he teaches english. I think OWN had the best lyrics, then WS then NSV. I think I've only heard Lacroix once and I think he's better then DiSalvio but not Worm. But it would have been cool if they kept him in; they could be an French speaking Canadian band lol.

But it does! Once Was Not is fantasic instrument wise, but Worm just sound past it, his growls are weak and boring. He's still the man live, lyrically and on NSV, but DiSalvo and Lacroix slay him in most other departments when listening to the new one.
