Um... didn't any of you people read his post where he said he already knew and liked Mogwai, EITS, and Godspeed? You can stop suggesting those bands now. (This is not directed at one person, more like 8 of you.)

I do love Mogwai more than anything!

right then if we're talking reccomendations

www.myspace.com/yndihalda just abso-postively awesome in everyway. Superbly epic and beatiful with the prentiousness to match as well. A blend of violins, guitar bass and drums erupt into this wonderful mix of post-rock glory.

I'm going to see a silver mt. zion the 28th, yar. It'll be my first post-rock show (heh.. that sounds funny). With a band called 'Ant Yeti Ant' who i've never heard of.

Just make sure that before you search too much you listen to Slint's Spiderland and Talk Talk's Laughing Stock. Those are the fathers of Post-Rock.

Besides that I'd reccomend Tortoise, Sigur Ros, A Silver Mt. Zion, and others... I'm coming up short.

that reminded me of this:

i've got tickets to see them on the 25th. bought them the second they went on sale.

i was going to go see both their shows in chicago, but it's 21+, and i spent most of my money to go see sigur ros for the second time in chicago a few months back

I just checked the tour dates, and ASMZ is going to Victoria but not Ottawa. WTF Ottawa is like 10 times bigger.

I do love Mogwai more than anything!

Don't even worry about it. Say whatever you want.
Thanks for the recommendations.
So far I've Saxon Shore and Yndi Halda have grabbed my attention the most. It's really too bad Isis have some death metal type vocals in their songs. They just ruin them for me.

Eh, chances are that they'll grow on you and you'll come to enjoy them, or at the very lest, tolerate them.

I concur. Though I disagree with the actual ranking. I like one Samuel Jackson Five song and it's called "No Name."

[edited for major typos.]
