If pop-rock wasn't allowed in the pop-punk/emo forum, it would be filled with Ramones, Descendents, Queers, etc. Which would be awesome. But, to be honest, most real pop-punk goes in the punk forum.

And back on topic... I think 39/Smooth was amazing, the solos are pretty decent for a 16 year old, they sound together. The bass lacks quite a bit though, and Sobrante doesn't really vary to much from a basic beat, or have Tre's crazy obsession with cymbals, which I think leads to his virtually killing the record .

bass lacks!! are you insane!! going to pasalacqua, 16, and many others, many what are you talking about!! bass lacks... hahaha

You said they were pop-rock, and I'm assuming that meant they shouldn't really be in the pop-punk forum.

And I said that real pop-punk, such as the Descendents, Queers, Ramones, etc, really goes in the punk forum, and not here.

So this is really the pop-rock forum.

Oh..ok

Well, at a time, they were pop-punk..but they progressed to pop-rock.

This isnt a pop-rock forum, because a lot of other bands still are a very very watered down version of it. (Of course not the "creators," as you said, they do go into the punk forum)

^Exactly, we don't start talking about Metallica in the nu metal forum since they released St Anger.

Cool. Last Ride In was kinda different, but I like it. I just got Warning, and I love it! My favorite song would either have to be Blood, Sex, and Booze or Misery. Church on Sunday is pretty good too. What's ya'lls favorite song off that album?

I think that if you look away from the fact that Green Day are all over american teen magazines, are being played on MTV all the time, wear make-up, and that their new fans are hardcore emos, American Idiot is a totally awesome album, with a great message and catchy rock songs! That's just Green Day..

Best song off of Warning must be Waiting, Misery or Castaway. I think it was and is a great album and to those who think it's too "popish", please try to listen to the actuall music rather than be obsessed with the fact that this ain't punk and therefor not kewl!1!!

American Idiot is kinda like their old albums, if you really think about it, I guess. If you didn't look at Billie, Mike, or Tre with their new look or consider how popular it has gotten, it's not that different from some of their earlier songs, like the guy above said. It's just them and their image that has changed, more Billie than anyone else. Mike and Tre haven't changed too terribly much outside photoshoots. And yeah, all the songs you guys mention rock too, all the songs on that album. One that wasn't mentioned though that I just thought of, Deadbeat Holiday, pretty cool song.

Forgive the ramble, I was bored.

I'd agree with some of the songs, like "American Idiot", "Jesus of Suburbia", "St. Jimmy", and "She's A Rebel". However, there are songs that are completely different, like "Boulevard of Broken Dreams", "Wake Me Up When September Ends", and "Holiday".

^Of course, they're always doing various things and styles. I mean look at the other albums, Warning for instance; Waiting and Macy's Day Parade are really slow like that one's you mentioned above, compared to Minority and Warning. I was just saying, I don't think they have completely changed their sound, the old stuff is still there.

First off: How come Green day are in the pop punk section and not the proper punk section??? Well anyway I think Billie joe is awesome and although it was Tom Delongue who fueled my love for guitar it was billie joe who made me pick it up. Green day are awesome first |Cd I ever bought was American idiot (Strange I know) and although i prefer blink now they'll still always be one of my favourite bands
