Old news.
Should be a damn good record though; sounds like they finally got the production right, and the vocals and guitar tones and such.

Almost done with the title track.
Excellent, excellent record. Not as heavy as previous albums, nor as close to Funeral doom, but excellent nonetheless. Probably my favorite Ahab record to date, actually, given that it's not very Funerally.

I'm curious if I'll like it now, heavy and Funerally are what I love about Ahab.

It's still heavy as balls, I should say.
Just not quite AS heavy.

That sounds right. It's leaked though, of course.

Finally getting around to listening to the new album. I wanted to wait until I was really in the mood for funeral doom. I'm most of the way through and am really enjoying it.

There's barely any funeral left, though...
but again, that's a good thing, for me. 'Cause rare's the funeral band I enjoy.

Funeral doom is best when it isn't Funeral all the time in my opinion. That is probably why Ahab is awesome, the Funeral parts come in at good moments and feel heavier than if the entire song was just sludging along at 7 bpm.

I really like them.

After giving a lot of time to digest this new album I still can't decide what to think about it. The band feels more together as a unit but I think the songwriting is much less ambitious than before. The clean sections are very well done though, probably some of their best. Aeons Elapse is a tricky song for me as the shouted vocals in the heavier part of the beginning get old and monotonous after awhile yet the latter half of the song is some of my favorite material on the album. His actual death growls are well done throughout the album I have to say though.
On it's own merits it is good, not quite amazing. However within the spectrum of their work thus far I have absolutely no idea where I would put it. Wretched Sea is so solid and foreboding, Divinity grew on me and gave more melody to the formula, and while I do like it I'm not sure this album is better than either. The artwork that came with it is a bit weird and cartoonish though. Especially the drawing of the band.
