Problem member?
So my band (which normally plays covers) decided to get down the originals I wrote last night.. but it turned into a fiasco. The singer had a migrane so I sent him home. I had to show the lead guitarist the parts and refresh the bassist memory and I was waiting for the rhythm guitarist to come down to the basement (He lives in the house we practice at with the bassist)
He brought his amp down and then went back upstairs to watch the Maryland game. When I asked where he was the other members just strugged it off. I wasn't worried about him at the time because I wanted to get stuff down with the other members. The songs were previously e-mailed to all the members but I have a feeling he was the only one who didn't learn them. This is also a problem when we learn new covers. He usually doesn't look them over and the other guitarist has to show him what to play. Out of the 5 of us.. he is probably the member with the least amount of experience. I think he's been playing for 3 years while the rest of us have been playing for a decade or more. I don't know if I should raise something up with him now considering I'm the newest member of the band and the rest of them have known them for years. He doesn't really do anything wrong.. he shows up to gigs to do his part but he seems to have a big problem learning new songs. Any advice?

I'd recommend talking to the rest of the band about it, if they can see he's not pulling his weight then everyone can have a word with him and tell him to sort it out. If you don't tell them/they don't agree, you might find yourself in more trouble than you need if you try and mention it to him.
