I am starting this thread in hopes of it becoming a common place for Mesa/Boogie refernce, and general discusion. Here is a place to post clips, pics, settings, questions and general discussion on mesa amps! I love my triple recto and just got it re-tubed today (all new power and rectifier tubes, all ruby's)


So here you go guys, have at it!

To start things off here are my settings!

Rectification-Tube 5U4GB's (Ruby)
Power-Tube 6L6's (Ruby)
Pre-amp- Tube 12AX7's (Mesa)

Power type- Bold or Spongy (depends on my mood, mostly bold with tube retoficton, spongy if Diodes)

Effects loop on, with CF-7 chorus Flanger and Digidelay in loop

Guitar -:- WD-7 Wah -:- SD-1 over drive -:- TS-9 -:- BBE Boosta Grande -:- Amp

All setting in O'Clock format

Channel One: Clean (not pushed)
Pres: 1-1:30
Master: 3-4
Gain: 10-12 (depends on song or how much "punch" you want)
Bass: 1
Mid: 8-9
High: 2

Channel two: Vintage
Pres: 4 or 11
Master: 10-11
Gain: 2-3
Bass: 12-1
Mid:10-11
High: 2-2:30

Channel three: Modern
Pres: 4-5-pegged
Master: 10
Gain: 12-3:30 (depend on song, mainly it stay at 2:30, but I will dial back for some stuff, and pur it on for heavy heay shit that needs no dynamics...)
Bass: 2
Mid: 8-9:30
High: 1:30-2:30

Recently bought a Roadster head. Its a bitch to get a good sound out of...but that's Mesa for ya.

Otherwise, I'm extremely happy with my investment. Also own a 4x12 recto standard cabinet.

Yea the oversized cab's have an issue mesa doesnt tell anyone about, crunch the numbers on acoustic stability, and they are absolutely whack, the bass response is uncontrollable... way too much low end..


How is the roadster? I was eyeing one but wasnt sure on it..

Too early to give a real opinion, but so far its served me well. Plenty of versatility available.

BTW, I don't have an oversized cab.

I was considering buying a Dual Rect for my next amp maybe in a year or so (but still use my JSX). Some fresh sound clips would be nice

you use 3 overdrive pedals?!?! do you have any molars left?

settings on my mesa 50 cal.+ (i don't use the clean channel and i have to play at living room levels)

gain: 8 (out of 11)
master vol.: 2.5
lead master vol: 0 (as in zero. it works somehow)
treb: 5
bass: 2
mid: 5 (yes, you read that correctly)
presence and reverb: what ever
eq sliders from bass to treb: 9, 1, 2, 3, 10
eq switch turned to on/auto

I got a really crappy clip up on dmusic, but i hesitate to advertise, cuz i was super-reef'ed at the time and it sounded really good to me

Yes I do, haha, I love my TS-9, cus its modded exactly to the specs of a vintage TS-808, and the sd-1 is a good od for the cash specially for light lihgt over drive on a lcean setting to get that jangley clean for tape delay stuff, and the BBE is a clean booster for the od's giv em some balls ya know?

i find oversized cabs awesome for rythm but you must have v30s anything else is uncivilized, anyway i use a triple and ive been playing mesa since i was 17, i have a 2 channel so

bass- almost none just enough to add volume
mid- 4-5
gain-7-8
master-10
treble-7-9 depending on the song
pressance-5
