you would look on the screen to check each string corresponds with the note on there. However, if you dont have a chromatic tuner use some of the bassmaster's tricks. Btw, i said you had to use frets from G to B, however, the <4> harmonic on G is the same as the <5> harmonic on B. I must say I wouldnt use this method of tuning on acoustic guitars as the sound has such a low volume it is hard to tune.

just for kicks, has anyone ever tuned using like the 17th fret of the low E? I tried that today. It's pretty cool.

This is a total dumb question, but...

With relative standard tuning, how do you know your 6th string is in tune or not? All the other string tunings are based on that one, so if it's off, they'll all be off...So how do you make the 6th string right?

ok, i think im screwed.

i d/led AP Guitar Tuner, it worked like a charm, ecept, when i tuned for Drop C, the 1st and second strings(from te top) sound exactly the same. they are both the C that the 1st string should be. can someone help? i just need directions to retune drop c if the top string is right. thanx.

the point is, its all relative to that string so you cant check its right unless you can tell when somethings an E, unlikely for most people, therefor to get perfectly in tune you need a tuner.

UPDATE: i figured out that the 2nd string from the top was right, not the top. then i realized that one octave (C-C) would be 8 frets, so i tuned the top string at 8 to the open 3rd string. success!! aerials sounds perfect!
