Luckily for me the Dutch release date is Novermber 9th and my order should arrive tomorrow, so it's not so bad.

And my nerves were calmed after Been Away Too Long was released.

Been Away Too Long is definitely my least favorite.

Worse dreams and Blood on the Valley Floor are definatly classic Soundgarden. I'm more excited that Km Thayil is back laying some awesome riffs

Wow this album kicks ass.

I'm just so surprised by the way its mixed.. it might as well came from the 90s, but it suits in perfectly of course. After live to rise, I was expecting crystal clear audioslave-esque production, which I'm actually more a fan of, but in this case this is the right choice. It's just, Soundgarden. Exactly the way they left off

Honestly, this album might be tied with Down on the Upside for second favorite. It really exceeded my expectations (although my only expectation was it won't beat Superunknown).

Yeah I getcha. I thought it would be good/great but I wouldn't be wowed by it. Now here I am, thinking "Wow, this is stellar!"

By Crooked Steps sounds like Jane's Addiction at some points. Don't particularly care for JA, but I'm in love with this song.

The vocals on By Crooked Steps are particularly phenomenal. The album lacks the intense high notes of the past ones but it makes up for it with amazing tones, harmonies and phrasing all over the place.

Anyway tour dates announced! I should be able to make Detroit!

01/19 Upper Darby, PA @ Tower Theatre
01/20 Boston, MA @ Orpheum Theatre
01/22 New York, NY @ Hammerstein Ballroom

I'm travelling from PA to go to one of the NYC dates. Can't wait to see these guys for the second time! The show they played at the Festival Pier in Philly back in 2011 was fantastic.

It really annoys me that the dates aren't more spread out, especially since I think they've played a lot of those 2 show places already. I might not be able to make Detroit now, my friend that's into them (that can drive, I can't yet) doesn't think he'll be able to make it that far.

I must find a way though.

I REALLY REALLY want them to play Fresh Tendrils. It's pretty much tied with Limo Wreck for my favorite song by them. Too bad there is almost zero chance (huehuehue) that will happen. I have a pretty good streak of seeing shows with strange setlists so who knows.

Because Soundgarden's sets don't really have the unpredictability that Pearl Jam's do. They only played Fresh Tendrils a few times. Which is strange because with all the Superunknown dick riding they do (when I saw them, they played 10 of the 15 songs from it), you'd think it would get played more. Then again, my ideal Soundgarden set would probably me fairly different from the norm. Now that it's on my mind, it might go something like this (not counting King Animal that would be too hard at the moment because I want to hear ALL of that live)...

An Unkind
Entering
Ugly Truth
My Wave
Somewhere
The Day I Tried To Live
Room A Thousand Years Wide
Let Me Drown
Hands All Over
Never the Machine Forever
Head Down
Mood for Trouble
Klye Petty, Son of Richard
4th of July
Blind Dogs
Fresh Tendrils
Overfloater
Holy Water
--------------
Gun
Tighter and Tighter
Limo Wreck
Boot Camp

That would be the most god-tier set

Wow, that's really similar to what mine would probably be. Take off Entering, My Wave and a few others and add Beyond The Wheel, Slaves and Bulldozers and Zero Chance and that'd pretty much be mine. Too bad almost all of those are impossibly rare and likely won't ever be played again.
