Ya that looks good, but did a mod tell you to do this? or did you just go ahead and write up this for no reason whatsoever? Like I think if anything at all, it could go in the MT sticky, so talk to elven, that is if he finds that we need it. But really, all we need is to tell people that your order of chords is maj, min, min, maj, maj, min, dim and then they can take it from there.

I just thought I could do it and I did it.. and I know that maj/min/min/maj/maj/min/dim is enough to figure them out but I thought I may do a list for people who are lazy

Is it really necessary to list every key? The order is: Major - Minor - Minor - Major - Major - Minor - Diminished

There, that's all one really needs to know.

My thoughts exactly. The chords for major keys:

Imaj7 IIm7 IIIm7 IVmaj7 V7 VIm7 VIIm7b5

Saves a lot of typing. Oh, and if you couldn't figure it out yourself, a minor key is:

Im7 IIm7b5 IIImaj7 IVm7 Vm7 VImaj7 VII7

What about when the thread eventually dies? You should just quote the entire thing and post it in the sticky.

Hmm, I think that should happen, but it might require a lot of copying and pasting... I can't really think of a way to insert this in the spot it should go in without having to push everything else back.

It's a reference chart, so you can check your work when learning from SilentDeftone's lesson.

Aeolian: Minor - Diminished - Major - Minor - Minor - Major - Major
Locrian: Diminished - Major - Minor - Minor - Major - Major - Minor

That can work just as well too, Avis. I have personally seen posts, one which is only a few days old in which the threadstarter knew the formula, but got the chords wrong, etc etc. I think it's a handy sort of thing, because some people just aren't familiar with it yet.

What do we do with it? I will have to figure something out sometime.

well I was starting to get annoyed but all those "what chord is in what key" threads and I wanted to learn it too so I found that good lesson and listed them all... at first, it was just a reference sheet for me (+ major scales, always useful) but then I decided I may post it on UG!
