Now that Given to the Rising is out, does anyone have any opinions about it?
I hope it's more like Times of Grace than ASTNS |

From what ive heard from it its pretty good. That being said, I was hoping for something more mellow like The Eye of Every Storm, its pretty similar to that album exept heavier. I prefer TEOES, but still sounds well worth the listen.

The first two albums (Pain of Mind and The Word As Law) are awesome! I saw Neurosis play in '90 to about 20 people in Edmonton, AB. They literally changed my life! lol! One of the most intense shows I have ever seen. Bought the Word As Law the next day and listened to it everyday for 2 years! Souls at Zero took everyone by surprise and was a hell of a departure from their previous work. An amazingly resilient band. Looking forward to the new one.

So, are there any band that have a similiar sound to the more slowpaced songs with Clean Vocals on Sun that Never Sets...

This thread is way too damned small to be the largest Neurosis thread in the forum. I demand more of you fools listen to "The Eye of Every Storm."

Given to the Rising has been edging out Through Silver in Blood slowly, though when I finally get around to finding and listening to a version of Through Silver in Blood with the Tribes of Neurot counterpart, I am certain it will crush the competition, as the same thing happened with Times of Grace/Grace when I found it somewhere in the depths of the interweb-tubes.

Thought id bump this baby. Recently properly lost my Neurosis virginity with Souls At Zero....and I am well impressed. Great, great album, even makes tribal sounds work well, which I usually hate.

This. I'm pretty sure it was the melvins who invented sludge. At least, that's what I've been lead to believe.

I wouldn't call Neurosis 'sludge'. Check out EYEHATEGOD. That's sludge. Weedeater is another band that comes to mind as sludge. Buzzov*en, too. I think experimental is a more appropriate description of Neurosis than sludge. |

Hey, Neurosis thread activity
![]() Unfortunately I don't have anything really to say apart from I've been in one of my Neurosis phases lately and listening to a few albums a day. So good.
