Does anyone else think it's only a matter of time before Varg starts appearing on his own YouTube channel, featuring weekly (softly-spoken) rants about Jews, Christians and all other stuff that pisses him off? He really seems to be embracing the Internet lately, so IMO it's the next logical step. Plus he could get some easy merch sales that way. Preach on with the online sermons, Varg. I'll be sure to subscribe and might even hit "Like", too!

In fact, I'd go as far as making multiple accounts to subscribe if he manages to drag Fenriz into his forest lair for a guest appearance on his 'show'. They could talk about Cornflakes (karrispy or crunchy?), the shameful state of music today, and the pinnacle would be Fenriz jamming to some Burzum tracks on a drumkit with Varg doing his modern whisper-growling thing in the background.

The comments section of the video would then rapidly fill up with stuff like "Hail Satan!!!! Two of black metal's legends in one video!!!", to which Varg would post a response the next week, expressing his utter disdain for us weak, insufferable capitalist pigs, yet encouraging us to buy some more Burzum.

Ohh, how the mind races...

Totally off topic, but man I forgot how awesome Det Som Engang Var is. The song, anyways. I hadn't spun some Burzum in a while, and I just found my CD of him. Damn good stuff.

Was that song playing on the background a Burzum one? The hell... Now I am really glad I haven't listened to the new albums. What a relief. Back to the old ones.

I didn't watch the video, so I don't know exactly what it is, but recent burzum is really short of inspiring. Umskiptar(I think its called) totally surprised me at first listen.

Muh, I still like Belus a lot. It's a fitting continuation of the Filosofem sound.

Belus and Fallen both have some good moments here and there. Fallen at least seems like he tried some new ideas and it ended up pretty interesting.

But both of them, and Belus more especially, just also have lots of parts that feel rehashed from HLTO/Filosofem and even DSEV. Rather than continuations they're simply him putting out what he's comfortable with, but not as passionate about it or as inspired as when he first put them out, and it shows. Cause there's some parts of those records that are both just boring as ****.

And Umskimptar or whatever... Sigh. So disappointing. He tried something new, to be sure, or at least tried basically what he did on his ambient records with rock/metal instruments, but it was just so boring and uninspired...

Yeah, I'll definitely agree that Belus had some extremely repetitive and boring moments, especially on the later tracks. However, I just love the overall sound of the album, even though Varg has since derided it as "typical metal production". I don't care, when I first fired up Belus' Død and heard that raspy voice again, I actually said out loud "Dayum... looks like Burzum is back, baby!"

Oddly, I've still only heard Fallen once and can't remember anything from it. I'm waiting on buying the physical CD rather than listening to MP3s and, since it's not a priority on my "CDs to buy" list, it's just kinda... Fallen... to the back of the queue.

So, I take it no one has heard he has a new album coming out?

Sôl austan, Mâni vestan will be released sometime this year, or so I hear anyways. Thoughts? Condolences? General questions?

I am actually thoroughly ok with the sound of that. Burzum is not about metal or black metal, and never has been (similar to how Darkthrone is not about black metal); it's always about the music, whether or not it's good/whether or not people like it. And Umskiptar was thoroughly uninspired to me, sounded like he just wanted to go electronic or whatever.

So. Perhaps this will be better.

Yeah, I'm actually much more excited about the prospect of this than anything else he's released within the past four years myself, cool news.
