Most excellent! Thanx for the honor
A 3 mini-humbucker strat - man, that would be a pretty sweet thing to play.

You can come try mine out whenever you're in London!

Lil 59 in the bridge, Chopper in the middle and a BC2 in the neck.

I'm pretty sure he meant something like this:

Not a strat with three SC-sized Humbuckers.

Whenever I hear someone say that they play exclusively a single genre, I always assume that they're just a terrible guitarist.

Ahhh. I see. Dunno why I missed that. Still, the offer stands!

I'm thinking of changing my pick guard. I like the Brown Tortoise one, but I don't want it to look like a fake Deluxe. Anyone got any ideas? Olympic White. You can see it up there.

Yeah, sure, I'll show off.

So I have a 60th Anniversary American Standard HSS Stratocaster. I love it.

It looks like this:

As you can see, it's Shoreline Gold, which they did on this model for less than a year. I got it shipped straight from the states the day after it came out, so it was the first one like it in Europe. I later checked and verified this with Fender using the serial number.

It has nice electronics, which look like this:

That's the standard humbucker in the bridge (forget the exact model), two lace sensor hot gold pickups and AN S-1 SWITCH! This thing is pretty damn versatile.

I've also swapped out the bridge for a wilkinson model, because the first bridge broke. This one has a weird hybrid pop-in/screw-in arm (actually really useful) and I attached the other side to a...:

Tremel-no! To be honest, this thing is only ok. It's a bit temperamental. When it works, it's precisely what I was looking for. Either locked down, or fully floating. No half-measures. But every now and then it pops out and it's a bitch to reset. I play mostly in hardtail mode though, so it's nice to have all my drone strings and double-stops in tune.

I also put on some locking tuners:

They're pretty much as you'd expect. Once the strings settle this thing stays in tune for weeks at a time.

A weird side effect of all these mods is a massive increase in sustain, and a richer tone. The lace sensors have a more diffused magnetic field, so there's less resistance on the strings' vibration, the tuners add more weight to the headstock (yes, it makes a difference I'm not being silly), the new bridge has a milled steel rather than injection moulded block and the tremel-no makes it sound more hard tail-ey (because it is, sort of).

Anyway, I named it Goldie.

I don't like that black. If I had a black strat I'd definitely have a black pick guard.

I'll check out the mint green in a minute.

I was thinking about getting my Strat refinished in a nitro finish so it can relic naturally over time, originally I wanted to maybe relic it myself but I don't want to **** it up.

Anyway, I was speaking to a well respected local Luthier who said he'd refinish it for me for a very reasonable price, I then asked him about removing some of the gloss/lacquer from the fretboard as I start to slip and slide after a while of playing, especially when at practice. He said that removing the lacquer/gloss completely would **** up the fretboard eventually, so he said he could remove some of it or refinish it with the same type of finish that's on the older ones.

My MiM Tele is older and doesn't have such a glossy finish, what is the finish on them now? And would it be fine to remove some of it? Would it be fine to refinish it in the type of finish they had on older strats?

When they got a bit worn would the wear be on top of the finish or would it start to mess up the fretboard because the finish would have been worn away?

Thanks!

That's a pretty Strat there. There's one used with a similar finish, but no where near as nice, up at the local GC.

If I wasn't more in the market for a new amp, I'd still have brought her home. As if I need another guitar!

What mods does she have?

She have new Fender locking tuners, coil tap for the humbuker and i sanded down the neck a bit too make it smoother.

Its not a lot of ''mods'' but i makes a huge difference!
