Thanks a lot! It's the only guitar thats stuck with me through the years. I bought in 2004 or 2005. It's beautiful, and plays like a dream. I honestly don't play it too much anymore. It just sits in a case under my bed at the moment. I don't have room to display it as I'd like to at the moment. It's the best sounding/playing guitar I own for sure.

I've been waiting for them to become available for a few months now, but that seems unlikely.

Had any expierence with the Blade Runner?

That's cool.

Any other trems to look at?

I could always just put a hardtail on, couldn't I? I don't use my trem much, since it really doesn't hold tune after dives, which is all I would use it for.

I always like the option. There was a time or two I didn't have a Strat and I really missed the trem. Personally, I'd keep it.

Yep. Like I said, the moment you don't have it is when you'll want to use it.

I'm looking at possible pickups for my Legacy. Versatility is the key. I'm back and forth between Baroness and Clapton with my playing. I'm looking into some Lace Sensor Golds for the mid boost. I've had them before, they worked out well. Figured I'd post here to see if you guys had some suggestions I don't know about.

Here's mine. The pictures are from the seller I got it from. I know it's not a Fender, but it sounds and plays way better than any of the newer american ones.

Oh my lord, I've had GAS for a Springy Sound forever, and you just made it worse. That thing is solid!

I had a quick look into the Lace Golds too. They sound really awesome. I was seriously considering it.

They're quite middy you say? I never really play with a lot of dominant mids. I'd have a little more when playing lead, but I'd normally keep it around 5 for my rhythm.

What could that mean for my EQ? Should I scoop the mids a bit? It's kinda obvious if you have a bassy or trebley pickup, but mids aren't a frequency that I would ever actively look for. I'm not sure if a really middy pickup is something that I would ever actively go for, yet it sounds awesome when I've heard it.

If that makes sense.

There's no need to scoop the mids with the Golds. They're very rounded.

Man, trying to get my Legacy set up is driving me nuts. Whenever I fret the G string on the first fret my G# is WAY too sharp, it's nearly A! I don't know, man. It's only on that string. I've reset my intonation like 50 times.

I don't think my BOSS TU-2 is cutting it. I've gone to both extremes and everywhere in between with the saddle on that string and it just will not intonate. Also, for some reason this guitar will just NOT stay in tune. I'm getting over the honeymoon phase with this Legacy very fast.

My ASAT Special is rock solid, maybe I'm expecting too much of this Tribute. Is it so wrong to expect all my guitars to be nearly as perfect as my special?

I don't expect the same from my MiM Tele as I do from the MIA, but I would expect it to intonate properly, stay in tune etc. I think when you pay a certain amount you should expect basic shit.

I'd say leave it for the night and come back to it tomorrow. The definition of insanity is... :P

I think once you get it setup properly all will be well. Would you bring it to a tech?

I'll probably get the pickguard. Seems like a cool deal. 200 for the whole set, the pickguard and my local store will fit them for free as I'm buying through them.

That way I'll keep my Billy Corgan configuration in it's own pickguard, and can easily whack it back in if I ever want to.

Gotta love Strats!

EDIT: There's a set of Hot Golds on eBay going mega cheap... 60 at the moment. No pickguard but still, that's pretty cheap.

I know they're hotter, but would you say too hot? As hot as the Dimarzio BC/Chopper series?

I'm looking at playing bluesy stuff on my Strat, a kind of all rounder really. Hendrix, Cream, SRV so I was also looking at the Texas Specials or possibly the Custom shop 69's. I'm confused. Too many options

Bud, I used to work as a tech. I'm starting to think it's a high fret. I've notice it on all the other first fret notes, too. All across the rest of the fretboard the tuning is rock solid.

Also, I figured out the tuning stability. The DVF is mounted on a couple pivot points that weren't as tight as I liked. I made the more solid, now she's rock solid.

Thanks everyone! I was gassing for one for a year or so, but I'm a student and couldn't scrap up the cash. Eventually, this one came up cheap enough for me to snatch it. I got it for 650 euros, with the original pick ups and a set of Lindy Fralin vintage hots, so I couldn't pass it up. And believe me, I'm so glad I didn't

here are my guitars, nothing special but I play only in my bedroom so they're good enough for that!
That's a squier hot rails strat bought in 2011 and a squier vintage modified cherry sunburst bought 6 months ago.
After I got the VM I didn't play the other one anymore because I liked the VM better so I've decided to make some wiring mods, and I've replaced two hot rails with a seymour duncan cool rail (neck) and a vintage rail (middle).

You don't have to play a big stage to get gear you're happy with! Nice Squiers!

Taking the Legacy in to get looked at today. I just can't seem to figure out why it won't hold tune. Hope I can get it taken care of, it plays really well.

If not, might have to start eyeing up a springy sound.

Those are really nice Squiers!

I like the hot rails. What exactly are all the extra switches for? Coil tap?
