Ibanez makes a 28.6 inch 5 string in their mikro line, and it's pretty good. not a great B on it but it's still better than the B on a peavey or fender

It's too much for even that. Zombies only come back once, this is the second time this thread has been dredged up. How does anyone manage to find these anyways?

Ok- I am female (smaller hands) and 'inherited' a 34" 4 string bass a while back. I played keyboards and rhythm guitar. I wanted to try a 5 string and the full scale 5 string bass felt really awkward to me so I recently searched for a smaller scale 5 string that wasn't very expensive. All I could find was custom models or this one (Guitar Center had one)-ESP LTD -5JR short scale priced under $200.00. It's actually a 3/4 size 28.5" scale and the body is small. It looked like a toy when I saw it (i can pick it up with two fingers) but I could play it easily. I have had it for a couple months- have la Bella deep talkin' black nylon tapewound strings on it. The low b isn't great, but its not awful. I since have seen a Brice short scale 30" 5 string available from only a couple places online. It seemed to get good reviews. It's priced around $300. I read a review about it on a forum-the owner listed the specs/ measurements of it and the body is closer to a regular size/normal looking bass than the ESP. I'd probably rather had this one, but I don't like the idea of having to order it and not actually be able to play it before buying. A 5 string short scale is like looking for a needle in a haystack.
