Actually, from what I heard recently, Cuba is starting to slowly introduce some capitalist principles into their economy. They are starting to move away from communism, but in baby steps.

And that's why he is dying.

Socialists, how do they work?

edit: Also he had to go to another country to get treatment? That just proves my point.

Venezuela's still a poor country, and decades of exploitative autocracies have left their mark on public services. Even if Chavez had been perfect (which he isn't), there would still be issues with healthcare. Cuba has been famous for the quality of its healthcare relative to its wealth for decades.

Do you even know anything about Latin America?

@Dready - interesting, thanks for sharing. Wonder what the French have set as their "endgame". Mali's a big country, I wonder if they have the appetite to really "chase them out.""

Would you rather have "the West go into Mali" or Al Qaeda gain control of it?

Not Al Qaeda per se, similarly ****nutty bastards though. TBH, I don't see why people are either a) surprised, or b) particularly opposed. France had a few hundred soldiers in the capital, along with, I believe, 6,000 French citizens. There's a significant Malian community in France itself. Were they just meant to let the rebels take the capital?

They are definitely a thing. Also, quit typing "srsly" instead of seriously.

A terrorist organization is seizing large amounts of land in Mali.

^^ yeah france doesn't have a reputation for surrendering

sorry, couldn't resist the joke. it's actually a pretty rubbish joke, i dunno why it started. in the grand scheme of things france has a pretty good record in wars, i think.

asterix, for example.

Yes ofcourse I know Latin America, we've had a few colonies in there. Also how is me laughing at Venezuela's state of healthcare a sign of me not knowing anything about Latin America? It's a poor dump, with some "socalist countries", some unstable countries, and a fast growing Brasil. See what capitalism does for a country? Brasil: capitalist, growing. Venezuela: socialist, can't afford medicine.

And Cuba being relatively good at healthcare for their income may be true, but that still doesn't change it's relatively crap.

You know the world can't actually be boiled down to socialist and capitalist? I know it'd suit your stupid black-and-white triumphalism, but the only non-capitalist country in Latin America is Cuba. And their various issues and successes are to do with far more than just the choice between socialism and capitalism.

So you boil everything down to capitalist and non capitalist yourself? Good luck with that preaching mate.

Edit. Wth is your distinction?

My point is that you're using countries that aren't socialist to show how shit socialism is. Again, most of Latin America is capitalist. Yet still lots of poverty. Funny that.

Prove it. Prove thatthey are more capitalist than socialist.

Editm because government intervention, nepotism, import substitution, export subsidies etc doesn't sound very capitalist to me and yet you blame it on capitalism ecen though socialist parties are in most countries in charge, like in.Venezuela.

Just curious where you got that from. Don't agree with the embargo but how is it illegal?
That's kind of like telling me it's illegal to shop at Walmart.
