I know the first fight they had between a white and black guy had ALOT of bad blood in it. When the white guy won and did the "suck it" motion right over his head and Herb Dean was like wtf dude? But i think that was the gayest match I've ever seen because it didnt even look like wrestling or jiu-jitsu. oh and Liddell FTW

80's going to be intense.
Joe Stevenson will win, and Gonzaga will too.

Ha! dont worry about it man, I'm not one of those fools who get offended when ever someone disagrees with him (no offence to 40% of UG). I like him because he is entertaining to watch fight. However I must say, I really dont appreciate his disrespect of other fighters nor the bombastic and false claim that he KO'd Wandy.

Where did you copy that from? I've seen it before. And MMA is awesome. Definitely the best form of ref'd fighting. |

MMA is great. I used to train in muay thai a lot and have done some pankration training but I've always been a huge fan ever since I saw Ken and Royce in the first few UFCs. My favorites are/were:
Fedor (obviously) Frank Shamrock Yves Edwards (if anybody remembers his flying head kick to KO Josh Thompson - one of the most bad-ass knockouts ever) Wanderlei Sakuraba Jeremy Horn Quote:
Matt Hughes has been doing MMA for wayyy longer than three years. Pretty sure he had the UFC welterweight belt for about three years, but the guy's been around for at least 10 years or so. And by the way... St.Pierres is a freak of nature and can only beat himself as far as I'm concerned. |

And that's what i don't like. You've seen "The Great White Hype"? Commercialism is what took down boxing (i really don't wanna argue that point but needless to say wikipedia has a lot of info supporting this [and no i don't wanna argue about the validity of wikipedia either]) and i don't want to see it taint a sport that may be the kickstart to adding popularity to the martial arts. i don't want to see martial arts more an corporate owned "product" any more than it has become already. i don't want to see fat white men in suits exploiting the spirit and discipline of martial arts more than it already has been. In Pride, the fighters, for the most part, respected each other, their ability and were somewhat humble. i cringe when i see some new fighter in the UFC talking about how his opponent "can't bring dat trash inta mah house" and all that. it just pisses me off. i like humble fighters with integrity. rickson gracie, bas rutten etc. Up to you, though. You may think that promoting the sport with a business model may help it's popularity and quality. I just don't. Different opinions i guess.

I'm going to have to disagree with you there.
Here's a short list of things that have hurt boxing: Putting all the really big fights on PPV Showing WAY too many PPVs each month Charging ridiculous amounts of money for the PPV Having only one meaningful fight on that PPV and like three fights with no-name guys with 0-2 records. Having so many champions at each weight that people can't even follow what's going on anymore So yes, the desire to make money has hurt boxing a lot. However, commercialism is essential. MMA didn't explode in popularity here in the united states until TUF season 1 and PRIDE is dead now because their shady business deals led to them losing their TV deal over in Japan. This commercialization of MMA is exactly what fighters in America needed. Now these guys can make a career out of fighting. Sure there's gonna be fat heads like Dana White making more money than the fighters do without ever even having to step into a ring or cage, but that's just the way things are. But if you're a good enough fighter in the US these days, you stand a good chance of making a decent living (UFC, WEC, Elite XC, IFL). But if fighters don't want to be a "product" of "fat white men in suits" then they don't have to fight in any of these US orgs. What's stopping them from fighting in Shooto or K1? They can go over there and be the product of fat asian men in suits. Either way, if they want to make enough money to live and train full time, they're going to have to be a product of someone somewhere.

Yeah I saw it, they threw poor Choi to the lions, he didnt stand a chance. Heres a big question for everyone? Fedor vs. Randy; who will win? And please leave all bias at home, I dont care who you prefer, I want to know who you truly think will win and why.

i hope ur not serious about Randy beating Fedor. Fedor is the best MMA fighter ever. The reason he doesnt come to the US is because of the money situation and the talent is not as good. The UFC has maybe 1 or 2 good fighters that would last 2 rds with Fedor.

alright enough of the fedor nut hugging, im not saying hes a **** fighter, the dude is ****ign amazing no doubt, but how can you say he would destroy couture? honestly couture is on a roll, hes determined and hes looking for that final win over fedor, hes done everything that he feels he had left to do in this sport except fight the number 1 heavyweight and when this goes down i think its gunna be one of the most intense bouts weve ever seen. Fedor and couture will both come out guns blazing it will be amazing.
and to the dude who said fedor didnt come here cause of the money you dont know ****, fedor could care less about money he was being offered huge amounts anyways, he didnt sign because dana white wanted to control every little thing he did, and he wouldnt let him compete in sambo competitions in russia which is his countries national sport. Sometimes things mean more to people then money, also ufc wouldnt let him fight in russia and he just wanted to have a couple shows in russia, so theres more to it then most people think, do some research. |

i like guitar the best forsure, but one of my new interests is MMA, ive been in fights in the past, and i thought they were pretty fun, but i had no clue what i was doing. i got to be an mma fan cuz i went to a friend's house and he showed me some old ufc dvds, and from then on i was hooked. i still consider myself a casual fan, considering i started watching a year ago.
and i think Fedor will beat Randy, i mean randy's great, but he it just seems to me it won't work out for him. |
