New Recommendation Thread
Welcome to the Modern Rock recommendation thread! In theory it will build in time, and is designed to give everyone a quick easy insight into a lot of bands. Add your suggestions about what bands should be added and what album is a good place to start.
First of all, what is defined as Modern Rock. Well hopefully, you know what Rock music is, so the bit that may need defining is "Modern". Anything after about 1990 goes in here, before that is generally put in either Classic Rock, the 80s forum or Alternative & Indie. It's a funny one though, and the lines between Modern Rock and some other forums, especially Alternative & Indie, are pretty blurred. If a band is on this list though, it's fine to discuss them in here. ![]() Ok, this list is going to be much like that of the metal forum... we're going to try to sub-genre as best as possible, simply so people can link styles they like to new bands they might not have heard of. Now, the main thing here is that we don't want ANY metal, punk, emo, nu-metal, classic rock etc bands. They don't belong in this forum. Some of course will borderline, but we'll judge them on their individual merits. So please, put suggestions in this format: Band Name (as a link to official website or MySpace if possible!) (Suggested album listening) - Sub-Genre. Now, all final decisions on everything in this thread will be mine and UtBDan's, so there ![]() I'm also gonna give FrenchyAwards by reddifying the albums that I personally recommend. The Frenchy Award in all it's Moognificence (<3 Carmel) Many thanks to Alix_D and Lazy for the previous thread. I was going to to go through all the pages of the last thread...and then I didn't, and just forot about your one on the end too. link and all that? Quote:
Facelift > Dirt. I thought having Jar Of Flies in there would be better than having Dirt too, to give more variety, and I was trying to keep it to 2 album per band.

Dirt > Facelift anyday. Also, fancy changing the credit from battleofla to Alix_D? It was my old account until I forgot my password in a spell away from UG ![]()

Goo Goo Dolls are there already.
I'll add Hard-Fi in the morning. Not sure about the other two, I'd've personally put them in the A&I forum, but I'm not sure. *ponders*
