The ONLY Collaboration Thread
Welcome to the only Collaboration Thread!
Please use this thread to find users you can work with on either your lyrical or instrumental pieces. Do not post your works here. Posts of this content will be deleted. You can refer people to listen to your music in the R&R forum or approved outside links (Such as myspace). To your posted lyrics, please refer to the main S&L forum. You can also offer your help in your area of expertise, such as genres. Do not ask for ideas to improve your creation, this thread is for the purpose of advancing an already finished piece to the next level. Do not offer help to people who did not request it. Quote:
Let’s hope this thread will advance the collaboration between users on UG and further its goal: joint creation in our community.

first off: we have a ****ing new subforum?!? hell, I figured someone would have mentioned that hell had frozen over...
Second: I have a question about collaboration in this thread, and please tell me if I should post it otherwise and I will promptly delete this and do so. But can the collaborations have nothing to do with music such as poetry collaborations? or is it against the rules of this thread to set those up via this thread? I am under the assumption that "lyrical" is an all inclusive term but this question is just to clarify.

I'll leave this for now Dylan, although we might delete this later, just to help user get started.
This is for you and all other users to use in order to advance your works. It was only the obvious suggestion to do lyrics+music. Plus this is a new forum, so we are trying things out too. The only thing that can't come here is help with an unfinished piece. We already have a forum for that. If you want to write a dialog piece or a collaborated piece of work from scratch, this is a good place as any to look for people to do it with. Just specify who and what you're looking for, much like our own S&L personals. Just no questions or asking for other people to better your work by doing it for you. ![]() Hope that helped everyone. Carmel

Alright lets see if this will work.
I've just started recording some of my more accessible pieces. This piece is one I am struggling with. If anyone has any suggestions as to a nice acoustic riff/arpeggio, preferably picking maybe even with a small progression thrown in to break it up a bit. It is at your mercy. Memoria Technica

I'm interested in playing around with it. Any specific tone as far as chill, relaxing, solemn etc. that you were goin for?

I wanna get a slow, solemn feel to it. I do have an intro.
Code:
That's repeated twice. If you wanna incorporate that do so. If you wish to start from scratch feel free. It's all yours. Oh yeah if you wanna rearrange the lines too you're more than welcome.

right. I have all the ideas. I split it up kind of like first three lines as a loose verse, semi-awkward change for the 4th line, next three as a loose verse, semi-awkward riff thing again for the next line, then i was thinking we could throw in a little, mildly dissonant solo thing with your intro in as a break here. Then there is a change up progression for the rest of the first "stanza" and it goes into a big melodic progression for the last 2 lines. The ending is my favorite part. (it actually is very similar to the ending to something i wrote a while ago- but mine was "the difference is within things above and below boundaries like the world I knew yesterday."
)The first progression is kind of melodic, slightly minor in tone, then the little riff fits in, then it goes back to the progression then a variation of the riff, then the arpeggio thing could be played with and put here as a solo, then the next progression is fairly melodic and it ends midway through the third time and goes into the big melodic outro thing for the ending I've never done anything structured like this before so the transition between sections is almost awkward in key changing but it kinda fits with what i see in the piece itself. Hopefully you'll like it. should i tab it out and post here?

Yeah go for it man. If you wanna have a crack at recording it too, that should give me an indication as to your timing. It sounds awesome and I'm interested to see what you've done with it.

I'll just post this here:
any song that I've posted on this board has never had any music to it, nor too much of a melody in my head. So if anyone wants a go at trying to make one into an actual song, feel free to reply to me. I'd love to hear one of them to music, as I don't have the skills or equipment to do it myself. Loom in y profile and click "all threads by this user" or something similar, I'd say 70% of my threads in S+L are songs. Most would have an Arctic Monkey's/ Indie/ Britrock sound to them, or that's how they were written. anyway, let me know if anyone out there wants to do something with them. |

Jamie, listen to the songs on my profile. If you like that style of things, and my voice more specifically, I'd be quite happy to put a bit of music around one of your songs and send it back to you. It would only be for the purpose of myn and your personal enjoyment though, because if it sounds any good i'd want to change the words and keep the music ![]() |

Right. Here is the basic tab. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. This is your song so it's totally up to you if you use 1 note of it. It's really like nothing i've ever done before and probably like nothing you've ever heard... Hopefully it doesn't disappoint. As far as recording it, I'm at a loss for means to do that at the moment. I'm gonna be gone from friday night till sunday night so I probably won't be on here much if at all. I might make a vid later if necessary (i'm not sure if i have a cable to get it on the internet though if i do). We can work it out though.
Enjoy? Code:
