Agreed 100%

That doom list needs to be re organized. Putting Witchfinder General with bands like Sun 0))) and Skepticism seems a bit dumb to me as they are completely different.

I love them. I have the Sinamorata DVD.

I have a lot of Katatonia CDs and Sunn 0)))'s Black One. That's the only Doom I own.

I want to get into Funeral Doom alot more.

I also joined the group.

/shrug I don't have a problem with them, save for an occasional rubbish album, but my guess:

a) personal taste

b) the fact that a lot of people overlook the traditional doom bands [in favour of doom-death eg. MDB] which are essential for full understanding of the genre, not to mention that that's where the genre started.

Someone in the rec thread said that they were just barely doom. The metal archives has them listed as Epic Doom/Viking Metal. Here is their Myspace if anyone wants to listen.

Personal vendetta. Once people accept they aren't doom, I'll leave them alone.

Doomsword are good enough they can be put anywhere they damn well please.

Anyhow.
I'm still waiting on my copy of the final Reverend Bizarre album, after a month to the day and being told my orders have been canceled about three times for reasons best known to the clowns at Spinefarm.
Bugger.

And incidentally the only one of the 'Pissville three' that were any good. Their early albums are the only stuff from that style that I can stand. They actually had decent, heavy riffing, while MDB had a redundant violin player and a load of crap vocals...

So I was in my (not so) Local CD shop the other day browsing through some CD's & I was pretty tempted to grab Candlemass' Nightfall "special re-mastered" edition. Should I grab that?? I currently have Epicicus & King of the Grey Isles & I really like the songs/vids I've heard with Messiah.

Also while I was there I seen Electric Wizard's Dopethrone ( that title is gold) & it "rang a bell" as far as it being recommended, and my question is, how would yous describe the style of it??

Dopethrone = MEGA heavy, fuzzy, tripped out sludgey doom. One of the best albums of this decade, easily.

As for the Candlemass album, go for it. All of there early stuff is gold.

Canlemass are too slow. Messiah sing like an orthodox priest. We have many of them here in Greece. Can't listen to them

I like the mixing of Doom and Heavy. Does anybody know ''Trouble''?

I'm a fan of the more sludgy sounding doom.

Never heard of Trouble.

Yes, heavy and doomy as ****!
James Hetfield once said that Trouble deserve Metallica's place, meaning that they re a damn underrated band.

They have five doom releases (the first four and the new 'un) and five gothic, as far as I know.

I still think that Sleep's Dopesmoker is the greatest doom album released. EVAR.
