meh metal archives -> cob and norther -> power/speed metal with harsh vocals >;( and it fits though it fits cob less,
best melodic death >;( * = classical music influence (best kind of melodic death >;X with guitar work and actual riffs)In order of awesomeness *Buried Dreams www.myspace.com/burieddreamsmx (best ****ing band ever duh, from simple melodeath (which still rapes; their debut) to more technical melodeath (Perceptions album) to sometimes jazzy melodic death; great leads and solos ;P bad ass riffing expected too :O) Vehemence www.myspace.com/vehemence (real melodic DEATH metal) At the Gates (each one of their albums pwns) *Underthreat www.myspace.com/underthreat (for the more known brand of melodic death, better guitar leads and solos than CoB, and real riffs, like ATG and other bad ass contemporaries) Eucharist (good ol' real melodic DEATH metal) *Inferi www.myspace.com/inferimetal (shred classical melodic death, with more hints of death than others) *As Eden Burns www.myspace.com/asedenburns (thrashier melodic death with classically influenced leads and solos as well as the occasional classical+death riff) Lothlorien (SWE) -good luck finding them, though I wont mind sending, think high quality (at the gates) with finally a good use of symphonic keybs and other sounds (could of sworn a flute was used here and there) The Black Dahlia Murder -Miasma and Nocture FFS- (you all know em :X) *Utopia Banished meh look em up (nice use of classical hints) *Behind The Scenery www.behindthescenery.com (you can download their two first albums which rape the crap off of every band mentioned here =D with pretty much every band in this list )Casketgarden -thrashier approach, a somewhat better Slaughter of the Soul, nice dark riffs and great leads/solos; get their awesome demos in their webpage and download LPs off soulseek or something- Intestine Baalism -well, great goddamn riffs and leads, closer to a real melodic DEATH band than any of the ****ers listed here, zomg- Holymarsh -riff loaded melodeath, good leads and shiz- Persefone from Andorra - a better version of Opeth -> better riffs, better solos, less repetitive, equally long and epic- get their stuff off of xpeh.harddays.net i think, along with a ****load more albums -buried dreams included - Dark Tranquillity -all their albums are excellent and all have their own sound- Dark Lunacy - First two albums, bad ass real violin usage, along with male choirs and female choirs and the occasional acchordion (very russian sounding use of the instruments its great) their latter album is more melodic death than the rest with a great use of random keyboards -russian war movie? yeah!- and that concludes the Melodic Death Teaching Recommendation Session for those who are stuck on the same boring bands DDDD |

Hello does anyone class COB as melodic death metal? those guys rock like! The only thing i don't like about them is when Alexi sings listen to Rebel yell and tell me i'm wrong but i honestly prefer the forced growling! lol Alexi is an amazing guitarist i would love an Alexi 600 that would make my day! Raise you horns and show your appreciation for Children of Bodom!!!

Does any one like Satariel or Nightrage? both are GREAT bands. Nightrage had Tomas Lindberg and Gus G for a while. (but they're still just as good without them)

I love Dark Tranquility! They are seriously probably the best melodic death metal around... coming in a near second for me are The Absence... then, i'd have to say Amon Amarth... Kalmah... Norther... of course The Black Dahlia Murder. Their new album Nocturnal is incredible!! I ****ing love What A Horrible Night To Have A Curse Upon Us and Nocturnal... both songs are outstanding.

Some people consider them to be melodic metal, melodic death metal, power metal... they have parts of all three... I just see them as metal, though.
