Behemoth is not black metal, yes dimmu borgir is black metal, even though they went main stream and got all symphonic and ****, but a lot of black metal has been doing that. So dimmu borgir is black metal, maybe a little bit death metal but still black. BEHEMOTH = DEATH METAL.

I like a lot of black metal but I tend to like the stuff thats more modern and technical...I.E. Immortal...well theyre not too technical but they dont still to the "tr00 kvlt" template as much anymore. Dimmu is good, even though theyre more symphonic.
I like Emperor a ****load, as well as stuff that has black metal splashed in, such as...Finntroll, Zyklon, Behemoth, Belphegor, Goat***** etc. Bathory, Burzum, Yrkoon, Darthrone, 1349, Samael, and Enslaved are great as well. Im a pro-Varg guy as well. Euronymous is one ****ed up bastard and I really dont doubt he was asking for that knife in him. FREE VARG!!!

Mayhem, Primordial and Burzum are the only bands I really listen to on a very regular basis.
Gorgoroth are ****ing sweet too. And i adore blackened death metal like Behemoth and Belphegor.

Yay Black Metal. Favorite bands would be Bathory, Mayhem, Dissection, Immortal, Burzum, Darkthrone and Windir. To be honest, I prefer my BM to be on the less technical side, just because I think flashy playing takes away from the most important part of BM: the songwriting and atmosphere. There are some great bands technically with great songwriting as well though, like Dissection.

their current style is death metal alright but the have been black metal from '91 till '98 (if you count pandemonic incantations as black metal)

Their first album used a screech. Nergal upgraded to a growl afterwards. I still fell they have a "shot" of black metal in them because of their anti-christian themes. Theyre so ****ing good!!! Some less technical stuff can be good though. Old Immortal was great. Windir owns as well!!! poor Valfar ![]()

Hate Forest would probably be my favorite bm band. Though Drudkh, Deathspell Omega,Ulver and Nokturnal Mortum would be close behind.

They freed Varg a while back and was saying how all the Black Metal stuff was stupid and he can't even begin to imagine why he was involved in it. Anyways, can anyone tell me if Esoteric is black metal. I've heard of them and I was wondering if they were, and what are some good albums from them. |

Aside from 1349, Mayhem, and Immortal I haven't found many Black Metal Bands that I can stand.
Any Suggestions? Quote:
