I wouldn't say upper class, they just had more money. It did start in Jamaica

Here's where I got most of the rude boy/skin head information if you want to read the whole thing. I summorized this in the thread.

From Wikipedia

Rudeboy, rudie, rudi or rudy is a subculture that developed in the 1960s in Jamaica.

Rude boys were associated with ska and rocksteady music, and they dressed in the latest fashions at dancehalls and on the streets. The term rude boy or rude girl came from Jamaican slang for cool or hip. In the 1960s, disaffected unemployed Jamaican youths sometimes found temporary employment from sound system operators to disrupt competitors' dances (leading to the term dancehall crasher). This and other street violence became an integral part of rudeboy lifestyle, and often gave rise to gangs. Many of these rudies started wearing sharp suits, thin ties, and pork pie or Trilby hats; inspired by United States gangster movies, jazz musicians and soul music artists.

Following an increased level of Jamaican migration to the United Kingdom in the late 1960s, rude boy music and fashion became a strong influence on the skinhead subculture. During the 1970s 2 Tone ska revival in England, the terms rude boy and rude girl were often used to describe fans of that genre, and this revised use of the term continued with the third wave ska movement. In these two contexts, the term rude boy was long separated from the term's tough, gangster past. In the United Kingdom in the 2000s, the terms rude boy and rude girl have come to refer mainly to Afro-Caribbean youths who follow the latest trends and fashions in African American or Afro-Caribbean culture, such as those associated with the hip hop culture. The terms are often used in a derogatory sense to describe youths from poorer backgrounds who attempt to emulate such fashions.

That's a way too common misconception. There's plenty of bands that keep a two tone sound and are third wave. Listen to Voodoo Glow Skulls and then The Aquabats and tell me they sound alike.

On several of the sites I used, ska punk and 3rd wave were listed together. We decided to separate them because they sound too different, at least to me. None of us that wrote the article knew a lot about ska punk and it was the hardest one to write about. If anybody want to add to what we have, feel free to.

Streetlight and Big D would be. Maybe not LTJ.

So what about Westbound Train? They're not on the list.

Third wave with a traditional ska sound?

That's because they brought a lot of two-tone influence into their music with the new album. Their earlier albums were ska punk though.
