Advice on lacquer discolouration
Hello, Long time lurker, first time poster.
I have just bought a second hand classical guitar, unfortunately the shop I bought it from stuck two round stickers on for the price which have discoloured the lacquer (see picture, if it has attached) I have removed the stickers and cleaned with naphtha but the circles still remain. does anybody have any suggestions or is it a look I will have to get used to? Thanks Andy Last edited by Verbal : 02-02-2013 at 06:26 AM. |

You'll probably have to get used to it. My bet would be that the stickers blocked UV light and that the rest of the clear has discolored around it. Was it hanging in a window?

Also, if the discolouration is due to blocked UV it will probably even out in time as the lighter area is now also exposed to UV.

Yeah just leave it in a sunny spot or something. I prefer lacquer that's tinted anyhow.
