Peavey 5150/6505 Settings

Hello =]

Just wondering what settings you use on your Peavies =]

Cos I can never get the one I want...

Any advice for a death metal tone, something like The Berzerker, Carcass or Cannibal Corpse..

Thanks =]

Any good settings for other genres would be nice too =]

Dan

EDIT ; Also, do you use the high gain, or normal gain channel?

My rhythm is set for more of a Rhoads sound - gain 6, bright and crunch on.
My lead is set for brutal metal - gain 8. Resonance is about 4.5 and presence is 9.5, I like it really high.

Low is about 3-4, mids are 6-8, and highs are 8-9.

I use a 5150 head through a JSX cab.

On my 6505+ the lead channel looks like

Pre: 8,
Low: 3.5
Mid: 8
High: 6
Resonance: 7
Presence: 9

Sounds good with my setup
Check out the Ultimate setting's thread

Wow you guys use a lot of preamp gain. Anything past like 6.5 is just fizz and more muddiness...

Try those out, I use those a lot to get a good tone then dial it in from there.

And I use the High input.

Well like I said, that's my Lead channel, so high gain.
My crunch/clean channel's EQ is saying...

Pre: 4
Low: 5
Mid: 9
High: 8
Resonance & Presence same as before.

Not sure what tone I was going for there...might have been a kind of early Metallica tone, or maybe a sort of heavy AC/DC tone...not sure, but I think it sounded pretty good lol

Yeah I read that before I got my 6505+ and was looking to get a good tone from the start, but I found that by boosting the mids/treble (kind of) and cutting the lows it balanced out.

I use the High input as well.

Its just personal preference I guess, anything about 6 is good for the type of metal I play.

Yeah I use mine at max 6 in preamp at low volume and I play hardcore/death metal...

Probably max 4 on preamp in any volume past like 4.
