Hmm i wonder what discussion had this thread be born?
for crust i've been listening to:
Born/dead-the final collapse 12' 45 (i was bummed when i saw that) (Prank)
Mob 47-Karnvapen attack 7' (Havoc)

Powerviolence:
Dropdead (not really Pv)
Deep ****! (madison PV, awesome live band)

Grind/PV
Loaded for bear (chi)
Abrade (chi, ask for a demo and i'll try and send you one)

EDIT* and Weekend nachos they fit somewhere under PV hardcore hybrid.

Powerviolence is made when you take speed and square it.

it's characterized by the Blast beat, when a drummer hits the a tomorsnare bass and cymbal all at once at a very fast speed. Famous PV bands are 'man is the bastard' '**** on the beach' 'capitalist casualties' 'spazz' 'charles bronson' 'dropdead' DD arnt sraight up Pv but there da best!

Discharge would not be under any of these genres but bands heavily influenced by Discharge that take there drum beat and song layout are called 'Dis-beat' bands and are usually characterised under crust. Theres a million bands like that with the 'Dis' start, most of the are just generic **** so i dont bother with them. Just check out a dictionary find 'Dis' and go to myspace and search you'll get hits for 75% of the words. Disrobe and Disrespect are bands that have 'dis' in them but do not resemble the style.

Hm, I usually refer to the bands that resemble the Discharge style as d-beat hardcore bands, as to differ from the american hardcorebands that started at the same time. Cause when someone says crust, all I can think of is metal.

Bands that rip off discharge just call them say they play 'dis beat' and everyone will understand theres no definetive (sp) term i know of. Crust metal no.

I saw this awesome crust band from Providence last night called Oil Tanker. They were so awesome. I haven't seen a crust band that fun since I saw Aghast on 6/6/06. I bought a Go Sailor and Jay ****** 7" from them... weird huh. Punx are punx though.

edit: I actually take back the Aghast statement, while they were awesome, I saw Dirty Power Game from Italy when I played a show with them back in October... they rocked hard. I was also trashed, but I danced alot that night and ended up bruising my feet really bad cos part of my costume for my band was to be shoeless and in shortshorts... go figure.

Discuss the crust we must, sorry brain thinking in silly rhymes.
apparently Dooms 'police bastard' has sold apparently 15,000 copies
Aus-rotten '**** nazi sympathy' has sold 20,000 copies
Behind enemy lines 'one nation under the iron fist' has sold 9,000 copies
The first 2 have been out for 15+ years, the last 11 months.
I dont know how many copies 'Extinction' has sold but damn 9000 already. Most records are doing 2,000 in the first year.

Napalm Death and Sore Throat are generally credited as the world's first grindcore bands.

damn off the front page eh? well seeing as some bastard stole the name 'reed' i had to add this crusty thing to the front cause of chronic fear of numbers in the naming system. I've been listening to:
Discider-'Drinking to forget the future' 7'' rumour has it theres some on cider coloured vinyl
Ballast-'Sound Asleep' LP, profane existence
Hellshock-'Shadows of the afterworld' Cd, crimes against humanity
Dropdead- early 7's collection, 157 press, armageddeon label

I really don't like crust, powerviolence, or grind at all. It just is unbearable for me to listen to for an extended time period and I really think it's closer to metal then punk, but that's my opinion. I saw Toxic Narcotic with Subhumans and hated them. Do they fall under any of these genres. Sorry to rag on your thread guys.
