Man, I hate the JVM. It just doesn't do what I want it to. Plus, it has ****ty construction. Just take off one of the knobs to find a plastic pot, with no locking nut. What the hell kind of construction is that? Thanks, but it is going to a new home...

If you're fast on the trigger on ebay you can pick up roadkings for $1,700 or so. They're never on there for more than an hour though.

I was so close to getting a Roadking head and cab for $1,700. By the time I got logged on it was sold. An hour later A roadking popped up for $1,800 or best offer. I offered $1,700 and got it.

What kind of road king do you have? Series 1 or 2?

Series 1.

The cleans on the series 1 are good, not lonestar good or F-100 good, but they're really good. I honestly don't believe someone who is buying a roadking would complain about the cleans anyway. The amps gain channels are definatly worth $1,700.

Basically, if you think you will use the progressive linkage, get a used RK. If you don't think you will, get a new or used Roadster.

+1

the roadking II has lonestar cleans which own the DR
the roadster has them too, and is a stripped down RKII

Series 2 has improved cleans and reverb (taken from the lonestar), different effect loops (series 1 has a series and a parallel. series 2 has two of one of them , but I don't know which), and they have a slightly different organization of he rear panel knobs I believe, even though they have the same ones.
