+1 I like the idea of having the winner run the quicky comp... will make him.her feel more invovled. As to setting up the team thing, this is what I've thought of. I feel like we need a minimum of 3 teams in order for everything to work out, I'll explain more in a bit. I also feel like 3-5 per team will be enough to create a sense of team, and few enough to give us more teams to compete with. to assign teams: Make a thread having people sign up for teams... but before hand create a document with a list as such: 3 2 2 1 3 1 3 1 2 etc.... If there are 4 teams, have 1-4 in the chart and whatnot. Then assign each person according to their sign-up slot and the list. Everyone seems fairly willing to be honest... so I think as long as there are 3 teams, we can always do team comps in one round, so everyone will have two options (not voting for their own) and the winner takes the team round point. I originally thought we could also incorporate this with regular comps, but I've come to the conclusion that we couldn't control the voting. So, I say we just do team comps: sometimes have collaboration comps where everyone on the team writes one stanza etc... Other times have each team submit their best piece on the topic or whatever. you get the idea. as far as setting up the group pages and electing captains. I say let each team elect a captain... preferably a person who is on often and is willing to word toward making this work. For the page, let the captain create each group page. For the main page,if no one else wants to do it, I will. In my head, it works out so that the comp forum will only be used for voting. Everything else will be contained within the group page. We will set up comps, keep track of points, etc... there. Each group will use their own page for collaboration. Oh, and I think the sign up thread should be on the main page so that more people will see it, instead of being in the comp page. i think this could be a good way to introduce people to the comps section, because it won't be as intimidating as wandering in on your own. I'll be back with more later. I have class now. Mull over this, and let me know what doesn't make sense. this is the second time I typed it (damn you IE) so i may have forgotten something because I am in a rush). Sorry for WoText. -zC

I really don't know.
I have one main problem really. votes. Winter comp had 9 votes. Substract 6 votes (2 teams of 3 writers). you get 3 votes. Not enough. And I really don't see this whole team/label thing bringing dozens of people to vote. While all of this is a good idea, and I'd like to give it a go at some point, I still think that right now, contest is not visited regularly enough to hold this. Honestly.

I ran one close-ish to the team idea, the europe vs. N. america, I think there was an international one a really long time ago. It was kinda a bitch to run and keep track of though.

I won't argue. You know what you are talking about. I love the idea... I love being competitive, which is why I've been so gung-ho. But if you all, (seeing as you and Steve both have reserves) don't think we can pull it off... there is no reason to try something bound to fail. I want it to happen, but I also understand that sometimes you have to wait for the right conditions. So whatever.

I do want it to happen, too. It's just, I'd like to be convinced that it'll work beforehand. I'm pretty sure you understand. That was far from a definite no. I'd just want some more suggestions on this.

Sorry to detract from the current course of replies but....
I have posted all the new stuff in the contest forum, new threads, the new information thread (now placed in the announcements spot) and implemented the new suggested rule changes. If anyone spots a mistake please PM me and I will get it corrected asap. Thanks Everyone, and enjoy the new season!!!!!! Also I'd like to add a list of everyones MSN/Aim contacts to the first post. And have it mentioned this is a good place for newcomers to S+L to introduce themselves and post their contact details too... I realise it is on the profiles but this is for those in S+L. Perhaps someone is looking for some help or just wants to socialise. Anyway yeah..... If you'd like to have it added just post it here.
