First post here. Picked up a Stratocaster knock off at a yard sale last summer and just cant put it down. Lessons once a week and picked up all of Scott Groves videos. Into the Soutern Rock thing, classic rock'n'roll and 80's heavy metal but I guess they call it "glam rock" these days.

I'm just getting back into guitar after a hiatus of over fifteen years. Seems like when I've been living with my wife I never got time to play. Now she left me in August, I've dragged out the guitars and started playing again.

I learnt in High School (started learning guitar in 1978). I am essentially self taught. I have an old Strat copy, and a nice new steel string with a cutaway and an inbuilt pickup bought from Aldi (Aldi is worldwide isn't it so you guys will know what I'm talking about: for those who don't think low cost retailer with chain stores around the place).

You do need both types. Some songs are not good on accoustic (eg Doobies' "Listen to the Music") but some are obviously much better on accoustic (eg anything from Jim Croce or James Taylor).

I only play Rhythm - and ONLY Barre chords - I think I can play about 5 simplifieds (well, I can obviously play A and E) - just never bothered. And I'm not real keen on those half-diminisheds and Maj9ths etc....

When I first started back again about 2 months ago, I could NOT get through an entire song due to the wrist strain. Now I can play indefinitely and day before yesterday I played seven hours straight with a few short breaks (where I'd sit down put on some music and inevitably grab the guitar and play along again!)

This is great therapy. I hope the wife never comes back (loooks likely). It seems like I'm over a 14 year marriage breakdown in about 6 weeks.

Just joined after extensively reading ultimate guitar forum and the posts made by all the learned members and experts. I picked guitar after nearly 20 years. Getting a grip on it. Need plenty of advise in choosing a better electric guitar. Have some budget constraints - don't we all. Looking forward to hearing and exchanging knowledge.

I'm a 19 years old guitar-lover metalhead guy. I've been playing guitar for 4-5 years. I've never taken a lesson, used youtube and moslty UltimateGuitar. I'm using a Washburn WM10(can't buy a new guitar for now). I usually prefer playing rhythm guitar parts. Unfortunately, never been in a band yet.
