Emo isn't dead. It's just changed drastically. That's how all music is. There's the hardcore, original type, and there's the newer, more commercial type. Emo is not dead. It's just different.


the last good batch of emo bands to come out were the appleseed cast, getup kids, the anniversary, aurora factor, june of 44, kinsella brothers' projects (ie american football, joan of arc, owls), and the promise ring. anything that has come out after this wave, which in itself started sucking in the early 2000s, has been crap. everything before them was infinitely better. i can't think of one true, good, contemporary emo band.

There are still plethoras of thriving Emo bands right now.

The Appleseed Cast still tours, still releases albums, etc.

Maritime, Make Believe, Joan of Arc, Owen, Jets to Brazil, Bear Vs. Shark, Jimmy Eat World, Minus the Bear, etc.

Just because it didn't grow up in DC and live off the DIY scene doesn't mean it's not Emo.

It takes a bit to get used to, but it will grow on you.

i wouldn't really consider jets to be emo but its damn good. i love blake, i used to check the jtb website daily for like 3 years to see if they broke up because they never updated it. of course they did and i've been grieving ever since. good album to start is perfecting loneliness (it's their last album, but it'spretty good), then orange rhyming dictionary (their best album imo), then four cornered night (if for no other reason than to listen to the last track).

Read the first post and listen to the bands on the list. They sound nothing alike.


I just acciedently copied Rylans post

And the newest AFI album is synthpop

and Mineral is great
