Does anyone know how big some of the more famous guitarist players hands were.

Johnny Winter has some creepy, long fingers.

i know tony iommi was missing a few fingertips on his fretting hand (i know that's not hand size but missing fingertips would make guitar playing more difficult)

Paul Gilbert has some long skinny fingers. Shoot. His pinky is as long as the average middle finger.

EDIT: I totally made that up. But he has some long as hell fingers.

Watching a video of Clapton playing "Layla", I thought he had a slide on his middle finger when he held it straight up whilst playing chords he didn't need it for. It's that long.

Hendrix, similar - there's a picture in a music book I have where you - at first glance - assume his finger ends at his second knuckle, because the length from first to second knuckle looks roughly the same length as a normal finger.

EDIT: I'd hazard it's like being tall to play basketball - very helpful, but there's very obvious exceptions of normal and even short people playing high-level. Unless the disney movie with Micheal Jordan lied to me.

I'm guessing Angus Young has small hands. After all, he is 5'2''.
They also look small here:

Afro-Americans like Mr. Hendrix generally have larger hands ( for better grip on their drum sticks/basketballs/fried chicken ) where as asians like Mr. Li usually have smaller, more flexible hands ( better from doing finger gymnastics.........if you know what I mean. ). White folks have hands also.

yes he had small hands and the first sg he had had a custom neck that was small so he liked it better and he uses the sg due to it's smaller neck

Kurt Cobain had small hands and was short, but he was spectacular. Prince has small ahnds and is like 5'2". Paul Westerberg had normal hands. I guess if you're a lead guitarist it's better to have large hands, but it doesn't matter the size if you play rhythm.

Yeah I don't really think hand size matters for guitar, I mean just look at Syu from Galneryus, he has small hands and he wears the guitar pretty low.
