Best amp for stoner rock???
I've been getting into stoner rock, and I was wondering what would be the best amp for it. I'm probadly going trade in/sell my Vox Valvetronix's for it, so the price range would be around $700 or so.

Stoner amps? Old Laney AOR amps, Orange amps, Bad Cat amps, Marshall amps...

For your price range though. Check out Traynor YCV amps, Crate Palomino amps...

But as this thread is already about stoner rock, I'm getting a Gibson Les Paul soon, would that be good for stoner rock???, or should I look at something else???

Best stoner amp would be a Matamp GTL of sorts, or the new GT1 but they're like £1000/$2000 so not in your budget..

If it fits your budget, get a Tiny Terror and a 2x12 cab. Upgrade the speakers to greenbacks later down the track.. Should be great for stoner rock.

But yeah, CanCan makes a valid point. You could do Stoner Rock on just about any amplifier so long as you play your cards right.

You could EQ your amp to get the right sound but you can get a good deal by selling your AD100VT so it's really up to you.


Josh Homme plays through Ampeg bass amps but I don't recommend them if you want more versatility. Although they are excellent.

One of the local stoner rock bands here in town (Blood of the Sun) has a guitarist who plays a beautiful Les Paul (tobacco-burst Custom) through an Orange stack. Damn. Tone.
Whatever Josh recorded "Sky Valley" on is probably the holy grail, though.
