Bump.

So I finally got Nordland I by Bathory.

I've had no idea how much I've been missing. Pure folk metal brilliance.

Borknagar and Vintersorg have been satiating all of my folk metal cravings as of late.

I wish Cruachan would go back to their old ways..
Their new material/costumes/everthing are shoite.

Today I was listening to Tuatha Na Gael and Pagan.
The female vocals suck in the new albums. TnG and Pagan were just amazing folk albums.
All Irish, but not tacky..

I've really gone off them lately too. I can't remember the last time I listened to any of their material.

Any of you heard of a finnish band called Kivimetsän Druidi? I have been aware of them for like two days as they got signed to Century Media few days ago. The songs at their myspace sound pretty fookin' good for an unsigned band. So I wondered if any of you folk-metallers know them any better and thus could give me some recs? Cheers!

^I've literally known about them for one day.

All I've learned in that time is that they have great potential, the guitarist/harsh vocalist is writing a fantasy novel which parallels the bands lyrics, and that his brother does keyboards/synths in the band.

They only have two EPs and a few demos, so you should focus on getting the EPs.

You have to get Till Fjalls.

If not the album, then just the song.

I love the clean vocals on it.

One of their best songs.

Vintersorg has amazing vocals, both screamed and clean. I really love this stuff and they have potential to become on of my favorites if I'm able to get more of their stuff.

And it grows on you every time you listen to it.

Vintersorg isn't just folk, it's prog too, so you notice new elements now and then that you didn't hear before.

So, anyone know of some good Slavic folk metal bands? I know they are out there, I've just never looked for any. And I know those Slavs can do music right, and I'm curious as to see their folk side rather than the common black metal side.

I'm also one of the only Behemoth fans to place the black metal stuff over the DM stuff, and I like the Endless Damnation demo tape

So, anyone got any folk recs for me?

The ones you'll say that I know are: Tyr, Ensiferum, Eluveitie, Fintroll, and Vintersorg.
