Ok so i want to make a web site and i'm so lost...

Everytime i try to find out how to make polls, guestbooks and what not all i end up with are sites that want me to pay them or will make one for me !!!

I want to learn how to make one myself...

Can i do it all using javascript or would i need to learn php ??

Can you make a poll, guestbook using only javascript ??

I have a little history of c++ and html...

Yeah and also how can i have a link list that displays on every page without me havin to retype it on every page i make...

My google skills must suck or something...

html & javascript does everything cool.
Css makes HTML way more fun to.
If you want the link thing on every page without having to retype it it might be ASP that you want to learn. I don't know, but I remember knowing ASP's one where you just tell it basically to fetch data from one section of a document depending on the page and where they click. basically like the search results in search engines i think.
PHP is for things like forums, polls, and things that need to be consistently refreshed and are user-changed.

oh and if you feel limited with HTML learn XML, its basically like HTML except you can create your own tags.

HTML is a must. Learn it fully.
Then learn PhP. If you're looking for guestbooks and pop-up windows, go with javascript. Javascript is easy to learn and steal from, since it's all viewed in the source. PHP is used for more secure, and more advanced functions. Having a login/register page, etc.

You'll also have to be fluent in some graphics for designing the webpage. Or you can just download a template and edit it!

CSS is also handy, though for more advanced :P

Bottom line: Learn all of HTML before anything. Then you can choose to learn javascript or php, though I recommend learning both in the end.

Ok ok so basically what i want is to have this page where you can leave comments on something. Like you post a comment...the page refreshes and ur comment is added to the page. Not emailed to me...And i'm only allowed to use javascript...possible ??
