Could just skip it, I do feel that track may be a bit of a sore point for some people.

Can't go wrong with Neurosis and Cult of Luna. I enjoyed Old Soul as well. Good mix bro!

Terra Tenebrosa - A name I know, and recognise their artwork and stuff, but I never actually listened to them until now. I kind of liked it building up, but I was less keen once the distortion kicked in. I'm all for dense murky atmospheres, but I feel it's possibly a bit too clustered here. It's not made me want to go and seek more, which is a shame as for the first minute or so I was quite interested.

The Elijah - This is more like it, ethereal choral pads, a sense of grandeur, big crescendo to get things going. I used to hate these sort of post hardcore/emo vocals, but in recent years I've come to quite like them. And the more this track goes on, the more I like it. It's like modern day Anathema jamming with The Get Up Kids or something. Infact that's massively Anathema like in sound, but I really like it. Infact I've just downloaded it, and it wouldn't surprise me if I ended up buying if the rest is that good.

Neurosis - Never really got the big hoo ha with these chaps. They seem massively influential/popular ect, but I just don't really understand why. And this is doing nothing to change my mind really. It's listenable, and I haven't skipped it, but I wont be in a hurry to go and listen to it again.

Old Soul - It's alright, but it's not blowing me away. It's pretty pleasant once it gets going, but has also fallen into the background a little bit.

Cult of Luna - I'm digging this a bit, sort of a moody slow burner, nice and atmospheric.

Krimh - liking the feel of this, or at least how it starts. Less keen once it the metal and riffs kick in though.

Altar of Plagues - used to like them. I played White Tomb a fair bit. But never followed them beyond that album. And as alright as this is, I know I just wouldn't play it that often.

So Hideous - Another promising start with the choral pad and big sense of grandeur. Really like this a lot as it's going on. I think I'll be seeking it out too.

Bit of a mixed bag, but I've found two bands who I plan on listening to further, so I think it was a successful mix.

I think Terra is a band who you need to listen to the whole album to really work out if you like them or not. It's really, REALLY weird stuff. The track I posted is only the first track of their first album "The Tunnels." I felt it was a good mood setter more than anything.

And yes, the So Hideous album is likely going to be my favourite metal release of the year, for lack of a better word, it's just so powerful.

Neurosis should of been something from Souls At Zero, Away From the Sun, Through Silver In Blood, or the other album I can't recall but had The Doorway on it.

Is the Cult of Luna track from Somewhere Along the Highway?

Honour Found in Decay is actually the only Neurosis album I own! A shame I know.

Start with Through Silver in Blood my lad. then get Times of Grace and work backward to Souls At Zero. Early material has more of a hardcore base than metal, very enjoyable.

I can't say there were very many tracks I enjoyed on here since I'm not really a big post-metal fan anyways, but the Neurosis track tickled my fancy. Kind of forgot the rest, but after that track I downloaded Pain of Mind to Through Silver in Blood.

Figure it's not a big deal as the user who was formerly known as Matt talks about hardcore base and I like hardcore music. Both in emotion and in style. If it's heavy enough for me, then it's hardcore and that's a difficult thing to accomplish.

Pain of Mind is some stellar hardcore punk music. Its certainly not like Bad Brains or Discharge good, but its passable and is a good listen regardless. Almost like a metaphor for their career really - they do solid work but don't really achieve the levels of those that influenced them.

You don't really see any sort of post metal ish influence in their sound until their third album Souls at Zero. At that point they were basically a mix of Godflesh and early Swans material albeit with a hardcore basis that they built upon.

Last album I recall listening to from them was Given to the Rising which I found lackluster.

When you eventually check out Times of Grace, make sure to grab a digital copy with Grace superimposed on it. The lads of Neurosis have an ambient side project called Tribe of Neurot, and they released Grace under that moniker as a sister album to be played in tandem with Times of Grace. There have been people that pasted the two albums together as one audio file. Kinda neat concept.

Haven't listened to much music like this in years now, so I only have a limited opinion. The mix had good flow all the way through, to my ears, and everything I heard was enjoyable . That said, it hasn't made me a convert to the style. I'd highlight The Elijah and Neurosis out of the lot.

I gotta say it's weird, I thought everyone would HATE the Elijah for not being overtly metal enough.

They put on an awesome live show.

The music itself was pretty cool. Although when the vocals came in I started to hate it, but all-in-all its very listenable.

I just couldn't get over how The Ellijah it reminded me of Anathema musically, at least in their more symphonic moments especially I think it's the end of Untouchable Part 2.
