Power Metal can get really gay really fast. 90% of Power Metal is quite generic and lame sounding. But the remaining 10% is amazing and nothing less. BG occupies 9% of that by the way. Hellloween, Savatage, Stratovarius, Gamma Ray, Edguy, Heavenly, Falconer, etc. can go in the other 1%.

Firewind, Dream Evil, Hammerfall, Stratovarius, Nocturnal Rites, Steel Attack, Edguy, Freternia, Thunderstone are all top notch Power Metal bands

Want your help. I listen to these bands, but nothing really stands out to me -
Altaria Avantasia Axxis Battlelore Blind Guardian Dark Illusion Dark Moor Darna Demons & Wizards Dragonforce Dragonheart Dragonland Drakkar Dream Evil Edenbridge Edguy Falconer Firewind Freedom Call Gamma Ray Grendel Hammerfall Helloween Hibria Iron Savior Kiaus Luca Turilli Machine Men Mystic Prophecy Nightmare Pegazus Powerwolf Rage Rhapsody (of Fire) Singery Skylark Spellblast Stormhammer Thy Majestie Timo Kotipelto Twilightning Warmen White Skull I need something that has the nice low soothing vocals of Falconer, but really aggressive guitar work and great drumming. Nothing like Nevermore, has to still fit power metal. If I listen a band there or something, tell me what album and I'll check it out. Cheers. |

Alright, thanks guys. Problem is, for someone who doesn't have much exposure to it (except for the fact I have heaps), it all sounds very similar, like my hardcore would to you guys.
I get into Power Metal moods, I'll listen to more of this with more attention then. Also, I'm not saying I don't like any of it, but nothing is amazing to me. Thanks anyway. |

Thanks man, yeah, I left Iced Earth out because I consider them more thrash. But I listen to most of those bands. I'm listening to to Blind Guardian - Mirror Mirror right now.

Yeah I like Blind Guardian, I like all of the bands I listed. Nothing just stand out as stunning to me though.

If I was recommending BG songs to listen to, I'd say: Valhalla, Born in a Mourning Hall, Mirror Mirror, Majesty, Trial by the Archon/Wizard's Crown, Don't Break the Circle, I'm Alive, Battlefield, Welcome to Dying, Nightfall, Sadly Sings Destiny etc.
Edit: AA meeting? We don't really have alcoholics here... Or at least, it takes an extreme case to earn that name.

yeah, its hard to think of a more stunning band than BG...
you should check out Sabaton though also check out Elvenking if you're looking for more original power metal |
