Bleak is actually one of their most coherent songs, at least, recalling from memory.

I still have a soft spot for the harmonies Orchidingrise, but man, its been a few years since I have spun those.

it still suffers from being largely saccharine though.

The Leper Affinity and Bleak are pretty archetypal Opeth songs IMO

to maybe breathe a little life into this thread I thought it'd be cool to hear everyone's opinion on what their favorite song from least favorite Opeth album is, and least favorite song from favorite Opeth album.

can be b-sides, covers, etc- just indicate which era/album it's from

my votes
least favorite song from favorite album- Harvest, on Blackwater Park
favorite song from least favorite- Den Standiga Resan - Watershed

Favorite song from my least favorite? Uhm. I like Burden, even though it's completely unoriginal and a cheesefest. And I'd love Hessian Peel, if it was two songs. And I remember liking something about Haxprocess I think? Maybe also Folklore and Famine at times? Heritage and Marrow of the Earth are also good songs, mostly. For Absent Friends is also very good [yes, I dont like Deliverance at all].

My least favorite song from my favorite is a tougher pick, because I dont like Opeth like a used to, so I dont really have a favorite album. But I guess... I never liked Credence.

Moonlapse Vertigo always underwhelmed me. And the Lotus Eater is quite enjoyable, unlike the rest of Watershed.

Moonlapse Vertigo is one of the biggest draws of Still Life for me. And it's fun to play, too. That harmonised lead after the intro always sends a quiver through my chap

I could easily do without Dirge for November on Blackwater Park.

Really? That's one of my favorites for whatever reason.

It's actually not as bad as some people make it out to be. The beginning and ending clean parts are gorgeous. The metal parts a tad repetitive and sorta fragmented though.

I quite like Dirge for November. Don't think I've ever had any qualms with it, actually.

Agreed. But I like Opeth's brand of disorganized from the era, so it's not a big problem to me.

I've always felt BP slightly overstays it's welcome as an album anyway. Dirge seems to meander a bit much and more often than not it makes me lose interest and turn the whole thing off. I'll agree it has some nice parts though.

Seeing them on the 27th. Apparantly they ended their Heritage touring in September and have changed to a, let me say more heavy, setlist with not much more that Devil's Orchard from Heritage, which is an awesome track tbh.
Anyway the setlist has been very consistent so far so I am in high hopes that they will keep it that way. This is the setlist from saturday night:

The Devil's Orchard
Ghost of Perdition
White Cluster
Hope Leaves
Deliverance
Hessian Peel
Häxprocess
Reverie/Harlequin Forest
Blackwater Park

They're playing Burden as well on about half their shows...fingers crossed
