Fade to Black - Metallica

"Life it seems will fade away, drifting further everyday
Getting lost within myself, nothing matters no one else.
I have lost the will to live, simply nothing more to give,
There is nothing more for me, need the end to set me free.

Things aren't what they used to be, missing one inside of me,
Deathly lost this can't be real, can't stand this hell i feel,
Emptyness is feeling me, to the point of agony,
Growing darkness sinking dawn, i was me but now he's gone...

No one but me can't save myself but it's too late,
Now i can't think, think why i should even try it,
Yesterday it seems, as though it never exsisted,
Death greets me warm, now i would just say goodbye...

goodbye..."

Saddest song ever. No doubt about that. A suicide's last words.

Listen to more music

Not that I wouldn't love Fade To Black either

This thread needs more Primordial

Paradise Lost - Forever Failure, Jaded
Godgory - Sea of Dreams (Remix)
Primordial - The Coffin Ships
Type O Negative - Bloody Kisses (A Death in the Family)

And although not strictly metal, but I find Rammstein's Mutter to be a really powerful song too.

Actually, in technical terms, a remix wouldn't be correct. It's basically a re-writing of the song. And I find it to be far better than the original, which is a great piece in itself.

Actually, judge for yourselves.

The Original
The Remix

Helloween - Immortal The vocal melodies and overall feeling
Metallica - Fade To Black Acoustic guitar line is great and the words are good
, Nothing Else Matters also
Judas Priest - Beyond The Realms Of Death Very moody song, Tipton's solo is great
Edguy - Scarlet Rose Very sad song and the guitars are awesome

and there are lot more but these came to mind now

ok, finished listening to the original, the solo sucked balls and the major chord at the end killed it for me.

the redo is nothing like the orgiinal Its way better though, you're right. The solo is much more tasteful, and it was sad all the way through, not just sad then a fuckin happy chord to ruin it.

That used to be the favorite song of one of my friend's... until I told him that it reminded me of skull ****ing, and he hasn't listened to it since.

that song never struck me as all that sad, just more epic and crushing in its heavyness

Everytime melody twists it's way through the crushing heaviness, I just get that feeling of distress and hopelessness.
