Believe me, I was quite surprised that Tony asked me that - when you're interviewing a man whose playing you really, really love, you don't expect him to make general conversation like that. He was definitely down to earth, much in the same way Judas Priest's K. K. Downing was. It must be a Birmingham thing, I guess.

Ozzy=Sabbath and you, I and everyone knows this. If they do another album with the Ozz man it will blow this album away. Dio is great, fact his "Dio" stuff is killer however I do not think it can compare with Ozzz being the Front man of Sabbath. I am sure if Oz agreed to cut an album this week, they would toss Dio to the curb.

The 1970 one? Yeah, I think that's likely my favourite too. It was recorded in three days with a £600 budget, and the vibe on that album is wonderful. Shows you don't need to piss about for months on end trying to get this to sound perfect, and that perfect, and the other perfect. Not sure which song is my favourite on that one - either "The Wizard" or "N. I. B.".

Great inverview Robert. You should be proud of this. Tony is such a classy man. Nothing but respect for him. History will remember him as one of the best rock/metal guitar players ever, a true legend. I honestly hope Ozzy records one last cd with these guys too. I know he's not a creative sort anymore, but I'm sure the rest of the band could prop him up one last time.

What's up with the Ozzy fascination? The only instrument he plays is the harmonica and america's skin flute. He would still be in a bar singing karaoke if it wasn't for Tony. Also, I think 'Born Again' was Black Sabbath's best CD. Tony was totally rippin' it up.

Can't we all just appreciate Black Sabbath, no matter the singer? We all know that Ozzy-era was classic, but you guys make it sound like Dio was horrible. In my opinion, Sabbath was, and always will be, Iommi.

Tony has to be one of the most underrated guitar players nowadays. You always hear people going on about Eddie Van Halen, Angus Young, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page etc., but we always seem to forget the pioneer of metal himself. Sure, they are all amazing guitar players and I love them all, but Tony needs some recognition. Very few people can come up with a riff like Iron Man or Paranoid. I remember a guitar magazine (I don't remember which one) refused to put Iommi on a list of the best guitar players ever solely because he doesn't sweep-pick. That's total BS and any famous guitar player would tell you that he is one of the best.

And great interview by the way, he seems very down to earth, and I find that admirable in a rock star. And I find it great that he didn't really diss Ozzy, even though we know deep down that he wanted to.

This is true, and what I've always felt: Sabbath is Iommi. If no-one believes me, listen to the album "Fused" he issued in 2005 with Glenn Hughes - that CD could've easily been issued under the Sabbath banner. If you listen to 2000's 'Iommi' even, that album is virtually Sabbath with a bunch of guest singers.

Everybody knows who Iommi is, but I'm saying that he isn't appreciated NEARLY as much as he should be. And yes, Lifeson is a very underrated guitar player.
