What a nice guy. Its obvious that the breaking up of Audioslave hurt him a lot and he had many plans for the band even though there was a bad vibe between them. Cant wait to hear his new band, but i sincerely wish he would feed us with many more weird noises and colourful solos. C'mon Tom, save us from musical ennui, look what Chris Cornell gave us, that crap album called "Scream", you can do much better.....

i got to admit, with every album he does, he brings a new appreciation to to sound of the guitar, and while the slash's of the world are great musicians (and i do love slash) i dont think that there has been a guitarist quite so unique and unswerving as tom morello. his whole approach to music is something that even i find hard to understand, but it keeps me on my toes and stops me from getting lukewarm in my sound. so for that. thank you Tom!

I actually think I've been fond of all the projects that Tom Morello has been part of. RATM, Audioslave, Nightwatchman, SSSC. I think that's pretty much it, don't know if I'm missing some. He's an awesome musician.

I think he's just saying that the Beatles weren't very outright with their political views in their music, they didn't do the 'protest song' thing, or make direct references to leaders (many times, anyway).

Interesting interview nonetheless.

I really wish people would stop confusing tone with tonality, they are not the same thing at all. Tonality refers to the keys and harmony, tone refers the sound and timbre. Morello has a unique tone, not tonality. A music website should not be making that mistake.

That said, I love everything Tom Morello does, he is a fantastic guitarist.

I think RATM is the weakest link. Sure, Audioslave's last album was the worst album Morello's had his hand in, but Zack's voice grates on me sometimes. Morello's playing is always top level stuff though. We need more guitarists playing like him.

It's really interesting to see his view behind technically playing as well as his purposes for playing music. They are both such different bands though, due to the lead singers, and styles of both bands. And as for your comment on his solos being comprised of repeated weird noises, you need to get your facts straight. Morello can tear up a guitar without effects, and yet so few can do what he does with effects as good as he does. You are just very ill-informed dude. I mean, how many other people would think up a "guitar solo"(i put in quotes cuz well, you've heard it) like he thought up for Bulls On Parade? First time I heard it years ago, before i picked up a guitar, I coulda swore it was someone scratching turntables.. He is amazingly talented, and original.

This isn't the first time Tom's played "drop B" Unless of course he's talking about B-F#-B-E-G#-C# but in Audioslave and a little bit of Rage, he just drops the E string to a B leaving the other strings in standard. (B-A-D-G-B-E) It seems like people are surprised that he's playing this way, but he's done it before so it's nothing new. (Unless he's talking about ACTUAL drop B)
