G---..
D---..2--5--
A---3---..
E---..

and you'd get a C major chord. In fact, the pattern:

---..(N-1)--(N+2)--
--N---..

wanna_lick_me? :
yes three notes do form a triad. so? that doesn't prevent it from being a C chord...

Thanks a bundle fro writing this man! I am sarting to see patterns in bass lines from tabs. Mainly the clash! Jimmy Jazz and Pressure Drop(Cover) come leaping to mind. Thanks again man for writing this for us!

Nice lesson.

FYI: "Wipeout" was by The Surfaris, not the Beach Boys.

brigetebardot :
"wipeout" is in the key of D major, not E major

Your formula if you will maps out the shape note the chord structure. Three notes form a triad but 2 or more notes played at the same time make a chord so it's both.

Good lesson helped me learn a few chord structures.

Thanks. I've been trying to find some good articles on arppegio-type stuff, and learning how to kind of make my own bass lines instead of being forced to play just the root note..this was a great lesson and I feel like I learned a lot. Thanks!

F Bb F Bb
G-----|-----|
D-----3--3-|-----3--3-|
A--1--1-----|-1- -1-----|
E-----|-----|

Have you made this on the wrong strings?
I meen, Shouldn't it start from F and not Bb when it says F in the Chord?
Or have you just put the Chords in wrong order?
Meen it says F-F-Bb-Bb in the chords but the tab shows Bb-Bb-F-F?
