ill explain what he didnt, its very simple, lets look at the first chord Ab the low E string has the 4th fret pressed down. the A string and D string have the 6th fret the G string has the 5th fret and the B and high E string also have the 4th fret, it should look something like this

Firstly music isnt a thing you have to h8 or like! music is an expresion! All people are different in case you hadnt noticed and everyone has a right to liek what they want. No one should confine themselves to one particular genre, and not all rap is "talentless singing" and not all rock is complicated guitar playing. Music can be merged into so many differnt froms. Music isnt just rap/rock/blues and pop you know! Salsa, jazz, fusion, regae, ska, club, trance, dance, hip-hop, blues, classical, contemporary, experimental, minimalism, techno, gamelan, african drumming, metal, punk, country, folk ...etc, the list is endless and the possibilities are endless, and unless some of you "musicians" realise that, you will never get far with music and will never develop.

so starting from the lowest string this chord is basicaly

It is written like a tab but horizontaly not verticaly.

A-0- but it is written verticaly.
E-x-

how the chord chart works, the first number is what fret to play on the E string, the second number is what to play on the A string and so on. If the number is 0 you play the string open (without any fret pushed down) and if it has say 3 u press the 3rd fret.

If an X is shown then u dont play that string.
So for the A chord u must strum starting from the A string (2nd string up)

a good way, well how i use to remember the strings when i started, EADGBE... is .... elephants and dogs grow big ears so it looks like this

Ears---.. (thinnest)
Big---..
Grow---..
Dogs---..
And---
..
Elephants---.. (fattest string)

as with the chords most of them are pretty simple

A= 002220 so if you dont have a clue what that was its
..no fingers on the e string (fattest)or the A
..then its your 1st finger (next to thumb)
..on the 2nd fret on the D then your 2nd
..finger on G string (still on same fret) then
..3rd finger on B then strum and you'll hear
..cord A. theirs other ways to play A, i play
..the A like this but i use to use a other way
..which sounded the same just different
..fingers on different strings.
so if you got that,

I understand all this except how to play chords where you have to mute a middle strings like:
Ab7, Abm7, Ab6, etc... (first line of the lesson)

For instance AB7 is 4645X4. How do you avoid strumming the 5th string? Unless it's maybe finger picking, I have a really hard time here.

4the newbie guitarist ,take it one chord at a time ,good chord to start with would be the G chord ,play it over and over until it sounds clear and it comes natural for your fingers to hold it , than move on to another chord like the C chord & do the same ,when u can play them both comfortably, then work on switching from the G chord back to The C chord back to the G chord and so on ,Go onto the next chord like the D chord and work your way up the ladder learning 1 chord at a time after u learn the G,C AND D chord ,You will start to feel more cofortable with the guitar & the sky is the limit!! my opinion guitarist should know there chords b4 learning scales ....Rock On!!!

Barre chords, child.

For example:

F# is:

e|-2
B|-2
G|-3
D|-4
A|-4
E|-2

So, make a 'bar' with your index across the 2nd fret. Next, use your middle finger to fret the 3rd note on the G string. Now, use your ring(third) and pinky(fourth) finger to fret the 4th note on A and D .

Very helpful. If you're new to guitar just pick a few simple chords that go together and put more emphasis on strumming. Strumming is more important at early stages.

Those are all right. You can add the low E for an A chord, you can add the low A for a D chord, and the low A for an F chord. The only thing I found wrong was the Gm

I like rap, rock is related to rap in a way because rock evolved from Rythm and Blues (R n' B for all y'all who are idiots). Also this isn't just a guitar website, it's an instrument website. Rap uses alot of Drum and Bass, and bass is the single sexiest instrument going, even though i don't play it.
